What is the WowPot Jackpot?

The WowPot jackpot idea began life in 2009 before being rebranded some years later in 2020 when Microgaming released its first official game with the WowPot jackpots on the Wheel of Wishes game.

These Mini, Minor, Major and WowPot jackpots have subsequently gone on to form part of one of the best-known jackpot series in the industry with some of the biggest prizes available.

Microgaming isn’t new to massive progressive jackpots though, having already had a huge hit on its hands with the Mega Moolah Jackpot back in 2006. It saw the potential for yet another enormous prize pool though and the rest is history!

The 4 jackpots available on WowPot slots each has their own seed value which determines the minimum amount you can win. The Mini prize starts at £10,000, the Minor prize starts at £50,000, the Major prize starts at £100,000 and the enormous WowPot jackpot starts at £2 million.

Here’s the collection of slots currently offering these 4 jackpot prizes.

How WowPot creates such huge payouts

The idea behind WowPot from Microgaming and other progressive jackpot slots is quite simple. Games are linked through a network of slot sites where a small percentage of each bet placed on the slot contributes towards the total prize pool.

It is for this reason that the RTP on huge paying games like these is often lower than other slots during regular gameplay.

Progressive prizes will continue to build until one lucky player hits the jackpot and the pot resets back to the seed amount.

How to trigger the WowPot Jackpot

Triggering the WowPot jackpot is slightly different in each game, but there is a running theme throughout most titles in this series. The majority include a bonus wheel with various segments allocated to the 4 different progressive prizes. Although Ancient Fortunes Poseidon WowPot Megaways decides the prize by letting you choose from 12 coins.

Making the bonus round appear can sometimes happen with special symbols collecting on the reels, but in other slots, such as Book of Atem, there’s a treasure chest collecting wilds and at any point this may randomly trigger the jackpot feature.

The triggering method in the first game of the series, Wheel of Wishes, was a slightly more intricate affair with two ways of triggering the bonus wheel. The first was to land 2 or more scatter symbols, which triggered a power spin, and the second was to activate power mode and pay 10x your stake to increase the chances of landing more bonus wheel symbols.

Increase your winning potential

While triggering the bonus wheel may be different in each of the WowPot jackpot titles, there is one certainty that rings true for all games in this series. If you're only going to play the very minimum stake, then your chances of hitting the big time are drastically reduced. The more you’re prepared to risk with each spin, the higher the probability of seeing that bonus wheel.

But don't think that you need to play for £20 per spin, for example. Big wins do happen and multi-million-pound jackpots have been won for as little as 80p before. As you can see, it's possible that big wins can come from very modest wagers, but bear in mind that it is less likely to happen if you stick to the minimum amount.

Historic payouts

As you might imagine, the WowPot jackpot series has paid out some immense sums of cash over the years—in excess of £100 million.  The largest WowPot jackpot ever won was around £15 million, but that record could be broken with the current cumulative prize sitting at around £20 million as of writing in 2023. This could be the perfect moment to get involved!

Pros and cons of WowPot Slots

Before embarking on your Wow Pot jackpot adventure, there are a few things to consider first. Playing for multi-million-pound prizes will always have a certain allure, but it is always prudent to weigh up the pros and cons to make sure you are getting the right gaming experience for you and your budget.

Pros

Huge choice of slots

What we love about WowPot from Microgaming is that you don't have to stick to 1 or 2 titles to have a chance of winning these 4 progressive prizes. There are 10 slots featuring potentially massive payouts including various themes and different features in each game.

If you love Egyptian-themed slots, then Book of Atem and Queen of Alexandria will provide everything you need with a beautiful design, catchy soundtrack and many nods to the great riches that were available to the Pharaohs during their reign.

Another top title that always proves incredibly popular is Sisters of Oz which has a magical and mystical witch-like theme with some incredible graphics and intriguing features to enjoy.

Four massive jackpots

The WowPot jackpot is the biggest of them all with a seed prize of £2 million, but this isn't the only payout available when you play these games.

Hitting a huge jackpot is extremely difficult to imagine but when there are 4 terrific sums of cash up for grabs, the chance of seeing some eye-watering prizes is greatly increased. Even the mini prize can do a lot to bolster your balance and give you plenty more time and credit to appreciate the games on offer.

Created from a wide range of developers

WowPot jackpots aren't only available on Microgaming productions. The concept has been released to other slot developers to allow some of the best minds in the industry to come together and put their own spin on things. This allows players to experience a range of different features, themes and imaginative gameplay during their pursuit of jackpots.

Cons

Higher bets increase the chances of triggering the jackpot

One factor that you should consider is that hitting a massive WowPot jackpot is far more likely if you are prepared to put your money where your mouth is. It isn't essential that you play for the very highest wagers, but it will always stand you in good stead to bump up the bet amount a little further.

You should never play beyond your budget, but it can be tempting to put everything into a few spins rather than play for longer using smaller wagers. As we mentioned before, it is still possible to hit the big time playing with a minimal amount per spin.

This increased winning format is used by many other progressive jackpot series, so we can't blame WowPot for following the same method. Jackpots such as Mega Moolah and Age of the Gods function in exactly the same way.

Some slot sites only contain fixed jackpot versions

You need to be careful with your game selection if you are intent on taking part in the WowPot jackpot action. Many of these titles will be available in two versions with one containing progressive prizes and the other bearing a fixed jackpot instead.

You don't want to miss out on the immense winning power of the WowPot jackpot by accidentally loading up a smaller fixed jackpot game. Look out for the specific ‘WowPot’ logo for the progressive slot version.

Alternatively, you can always look for a different massive jackpot series which always includes the progressive jackpot. MegaJackpots and Kingdoms Rise are jackpot slots that will always deliver the progressive payout.
