Stellar Cash Chicken Fox 5x Skillstar Review
We've been here before with Stella Cash (with Stellar Cash Blown Away), so we aren't going to bang on about how weird it is to have a jackpot round full of spaceships that seemingly don't match the theme of the game. It is what it is, and that is just plain quirky!
There is plenty going on in this title, and at first glance, it seems like it's all a little too complicated for a slot just like the original Chicken Fox 5x Skillstar. But when you get to grips with everything that this game has to offer, you realise that the slot developer has done a great job of keeping players occupied and not just simply waiting for 1 bonus round to occur.
Design
The game's design is clean and crisp but not exactly pushing the designer's skills to the limit in the process. It features a basic barnyard scene with various animal symbols and the scatters and wilds that we mentioned before.
The real animation comes to life during the Stellar Cash jackpot round as you take on enemy forces to land one of the 4 big prizes. Lightning Box is fond of a cartoon-style theme without needing to go into too much photorealistic design as a result.
This keeps things simple for them but the downside is that you get the impression that they aren't pushing themselves out of their comfort zone. As you might expect, the soundtrack is a basic banjo loop that will grate on you after a while. The overall design works perfectly on various screen sizes and there's no loss of quality or gaming experience if you choose to play on your mobile phone.
Gameplay
As we have said, the downside to an action-packed game like this is that the instructions are a little bit all over the place. It's hard to fit so much detail into a cohesive and brief explanation. Our best advice is to crack on and hit the spin button and simply enjoy the show.
The feature rounds do pop up occasionally and you shouldn't be waiting forever to see a bit of additional action. The base game is fairly standard but remember that the chicken cash prizes that spin around during the base game don't mean anything to you until you trigger the chicken catch bonus and the fox wilds come into play.
Win Potential
With a maximum win of 2,173x stake, you aren't going to see massive payouts unless you push your wagers up towards the top end of the limit. But the addition of the 4 jackpots will certainly add to the potential.
These aren't progressive but they will vary depending on the size of your bets. The RTP sits neatly at 96%, so the house is getting a fairly standard edge with this game.
Our Verdict
Stellar Cash Chicken Fox 5x Skillstar is a mouthful to say and a minor headache to understand. There may just be a little too much going on for most players to bother with. If you like to keep things simple, then this certainly isn't the slot for you. We recommend trying out the original Chicken Fox instead.
However, there are plenty of fun elements and if you can get through the initial confusion, then it is a decent game that could produce some potentially valuable prizes. Our one major gripe is that the maximum payout is fairly small for a game of this type and you would have expected to see it on a low-volatility slot instead.
