ELK isn't wasting any time in keeping the Pirots series moving. So far, Pirots 3 has gained the highest score with 4.6 out of 5, and this is going to be extremely tough to beat. This slot featured modifiers, bonus games, upgrades and feature symbols and from what I can make out so far, Pirots 4 offers just as much. The only real difference is the change of scene and slightly more favourable volatility.
One quick look at this or any other Pirots game will either make you squeal with delight or recoil in confusion!
Here we have a 6x6 grid that doesn't conform to any standard payline rules or other grid slot mechanics for that matter. The 4 birds are able to collect gems of the same colour across this grid and only stop once they meet a non-compatible symbol.
Each symbol is a gem that offers a cash value and these are totaled up as the birds move around. That's the basic premise and from then on, everything gets extra weird!
As gems are collected, the meter will keep track and the aim is to get this to the end before a winning sequence finishes. As it reaches completion, the meter will release feature symbols and these include bonus symbols, wilds, multiplier coins and the possibility of upgrading gem values. Each gem has various levels of upgrades and this can be particularly important during the free spins bonus.
Birds may also collect Corner Bombs of the same colour to remove all gems within a 3x3 area and other birds too. Part of the grid is removed by the bomb and this helps to increase the game area up to 8x8.
Birds may grab an Alien Invasion symbol and this brings the Space Bandit into the game. He collects gems and picks up birds, with whom he will have a fight. If the bandit wins the fight, the game continues but if the bird wins, the cash is totalled up and you go back to the base game.
There is a respins option and a free spins game as well and the former comes to life if birds collect all symbols on the grid. Three spins get renewed as coin multipliers and bridge symbols land and all of these help add to your potential payout.
If you go three spins without a special symbol, then it's game over but you could potentially complete the grid with big multipliers.
The regular bonus game is triggered by collecting three bonus symbols and your collection meter refusing to return back to zero after a winning sequence comes to an end and the symbol upgrades remain constant.
The super bonus game is fairly similar but you will need one of the three bonus symbols to be a super bonus symbol as you trigger the round. You now have an 8x8 game area and all of the gems are upgraded when the upgrade symbols land.
You can also buy your way into the free spins bonuses at a cost of 100x or 500x, but this is only available outside the UK.
Birds can collect their corresponding bombs to activate them. As they detonate, other birds are removed from the grid and gems within a 3x3 radius also disappear. The bomb removes sections of the space station and expands the grid up to 8x8 to potentially bring bigger wins thanks to the extra symbols available.
If a bird collects an Alien Invasion symbol, the Space Bandit appears and starts to collect gems and birds. He grabs you cash payouts thanks to the gem collection and as long as he keeps beating the birds, he keeps making payments into your balance. He also helps to increase the multiplier, which will prove to be even more beneficial.
10 feature symbols can be released by the collection meter as you bring home standard payouts. The feature symbols can award bonus spins, wilds, coins, upgrades and more. Up to three feature symbols are released simultaneously once you have completely filled the meter.
This feature triggers when birds have collected all symbols from each section of the grid. This 8x8 grid starts with a bird in each corner and you get three spins. Each time you land another coin or bridge symbol, your spins are reset. Coin values are totaled at the end of the bonus and paid into your balance.
Free spins and super free spins are possible with five spins coming thanks to three bonus symbols being collected during a game round. The meter and upgraded value of all standard gems will continue to grow and not reset back to the original value throughout the bonus game.
