Birds can only move around the grid when there is a coloured gem forming a trail but with a peanut symbol, these rules go out the window. Birds can continue wherever they like as long as peanuts form a track.
Transform symbols turn a cluster of gems next to a bird into the same colour as the bird so that it can collect the gems. And don't forget that the upgrade symbols will help push the gem level between one and three places to improve the win size.
If two birds land next to each other after moving around the grid, they might get into a bit of a tussle. Three adjacent birds will definitely start a fight! What you get is a Mexican standoff or just a good old-fashioned duel, depending on how many birds there are. As the birds shoot at each other, they collect gems and bonus symbols plus keys and coins. They can also ignite the dynamite symbols to expand the grid.
There's an extra bird helping out and he's known as the Bandit. He spends most of his time under lock and key but the regular birds can collect the key and see him escape. The bandit is able to collect any gem or feature symbol but may not grab an entire cluster. This value appears on the wanted poster and remains your running prize total throughout the feature.
As he lands next to the other birds, a duel begins and if the bandit wins, he continues collecting more valuable gems for you. If the bandit kills all of the birds, he then continues to collect the remaining symbols on the grid and add this to your running total.
2 or 4 matching train symbols on the left and right of the grid may appear behind regular symbols. If a bird collects a symbol on top of one of these and the same bird can collect the symbol on top of another train on the opposite side of the grid, then the Train Heist triggers.
A train arrives and the bird gets on board as it travels around the grid, awarding up to 3 random feature symbols. The bird gets off the train and continues collecting gems.
If you empty the entire game area thanks to the bandit or peanut features, you'll trigger the Coin Game. Each bird has a lasso and a chance to grab cash prizes from the grid or a scorpion. Grab a scorpion and the bird dies but grab cash and you continue to collect more money.
The final feature is the free spins game and for this, you'll need to collect 3 bonus symbols. You get 5 free spins and the regular bonus game starts with its current size grid. Your progress along the collection meter doesn't revert back to zero during the bonus game.
Some areas outside the UK will have access to the X-iter options and this offers several bonus game modes. One of these options includes entry to the super bonus game for 500x. I had to play this game about a thousand times to get my head around all of the features. After coming close to tears I figured it all out and started to love the big payout potential that it holds. Don't forget that there's extremely high volatility and this will play a huge part in how well those features treat you. Things can start kicking off at the same time and you'll possibly see some huge wins like I did as I made my way around the train track and lassoed a few valuable coins. The top win is 10,000x and I'm in no doubt that some lucky players will see this madness create such a payout at some point. The RTP is the standard ELK 94%.
Pirots 3 takes place in the Wild West and even though it seems like the most random place to find 4 colourful birds, it doesn't really matter. The designers over at ELK make it all happen seamlessly and it just works weirdly well. It's a bit hard to see what's going on if you play on a smaller mobile device but the option is there nonetheless. The sound effects and backing track are superb and all the animations bring this game to life. Load it up and take a look even if you have no intention of taking a spin!
Sequels and threequels can be difficult releases with many developers sticking to a tried and tested formula in fear of moving too far away from the concept that became so popular in the first place. In some respects, you can see a lot of the original ideas in Pirots 3 but the new additions are bold and you've got to love the ballsy attitude over at ELK for pushing this game beyond its original comfort zone into an absolute beast of a feature-packed slot.
