If you like intriguing payout systems and a chance to upgrade your wins, then you're in good company with this range of slots. I didn't think it could get much better than Pirots 4, but they're back, and they intend to prove me wrong.
The first thing you need to know is that gems are worth anywhere between 0.05x and 25x each, but their values will all depend on how far you manage to upgrade them while you play. These gems are collected by the corresponding coloured birds, and you can collect Upgrade and Upgrade All symbols to improve the values, as well as grab enough of them to boost the value.
Collecting coins will pay the value shown on them, and you might even get a Max Win coin as well.
Wild symbols substitute for any gems as they stand in their path of collection, and the transform symbols can adjust a cluster of gems next to a bird and make them the same colour.
Captain Black Feather will turn up to 4 birds into ghosts and their symbols into gems, and these might be worth up to 30x.
The Labyrinth feature will remove gems and move the birds around the grid, and the Catacombs is available when a bird collects a symbol on top of a catacomb corner – this gets you a feature symbol.
The other features are portals that allow the birds to teleport and tunnels that let them dig their way to freedom.
If you clear the entire grid, then the Cursed Treasure brings coins onto the grid and starts at 3 spins. Each time you land coins, birds or symbols, you reset the 3 spins and keep going.
The bonus game comes when 3 or more bonus symbols are collected by the birds, and if one of them is a super symbol, then you get to see the super version. The grid size and progress on all the symbol collection meters and payout levels of the gems remain persistent.
The super version of the game awards one downpour of cursed treasure coins at the start of each drop.
Outside the UK, entry to the regular bonus costs 100x and the super bonus costs 250x.
Collecting feature symbols will bring an enormous amount of pleasure to these reels and hopefully to your balance at the same time. There are all manner of activities that take place, including the transformation of symbols, teleportation, travel through tunnels and max win coins.
Three or more bonus symbols will trigger the free spins bonus, and if one of them is a super symbol, you get a little upgrade as you enter the game. The original state of the board, along with the values of the gems, will remain persistent throughout, and the super version brings cursed treasure coins onto the grid with each spin.

It all depends on the progress these birds make along their paths, and any features that allow them to keep moving for as long as possible. The downside to a rich run of spins is that it’s quite a lengthy process to watch, but hopefully it'll mean a special payout as well at the end. It took me a little while, but one particular sequence of rewards brought over 50x to my balance.
If you like to be bedazzled and perhaps slightly confused by what's going on in front of you, then look no further than Pirots 5. It won't be everybody's cup of tea, and if you want a simple life, then this might not be the one for you. It's definitely on a par with the other games in this series, but perhaps won't score as high because we've seen most of these movements and explosions before. That said, the added underwater/dead Captain idea will be well received, and you can be just as miffed on your mobile phone as well!
There's a lot going on in Pirots 5, and if we went through all of the features and add-ons, we'd be here all day. It's probably impossible to think that you're going to see everything unfold unless you spend hours and hours hitting the spin button. It's a great way to keep the entertainment levels high though, because every spin has the potential to keep your brain entertained, even if it doesn't bring a big payout. There's no way you can let this one pass without giving it a try.
