Thunderstruck Stormchaser Review
When the original Thunderstruck was released in 2003, it completely blew the minds of almost every slot player. The sequel Thunderstruck II became just a cult classic as well when it was released in 2010.
Sadly, there was a lull for over 10 years within the Thunderstruck series as the series seemed quite old-fashioned by this point. Thankfully, Stormcraft Studios took note to release the reboot Thunderstruck Wild Lightning that introduced the unique Link & Win mechanic.
Following the tremendous success of this slot, Stormcraft Studios released an official sequel with Thunderstruck Stormchaser. With a simple set-up of 5-reels with 1,024 ways to win, this slot contains straightforward gameplay added with bespoke mechanics that makes the slot really stand out.
Design
The game opens up with Asgard in the distance. The golden buildings and elegant architecture stand out emphasising exactly where you are. All the symbols on the reels relate to Norse mythology and Asgard such as crows, the Yggdrasil tree and different runes.
However, there are two symbols that stand out more than the others. Thor and Thyra are symbols on the reels that look like they have come straight out of a video game. It's clear that Thor is definitely modelled after Chris Hemsworth but it works for the slot.
Whilst the visuals are impressive and Thyra appears next to the reels from time to time, the audio is the best part about this slot. There are different musical scores that you can choose from to fuel the game with Ascension, Ascension (score), Belonging and Belonging (score) as the starting tracks.
The full song versions feature lyrics relating to the game and Norse mythology. If you are a rocker, then the lyrical versions will be right for you (especially Belonging). However, if you are wanting something more ethereal, then the score versions will be the ideal choice. It's fair to say that this slot does not feel like a slot, but instead feels like a masterful piece of medium.
Gameplay
The beauty of this slot is that the gameplay is nothing too crazy and is perfect for beginners and fans of the original slots. In terms of the gameplay, players will find multipliers, modifiers and free spins round.
There is a bonus buy feature, but it cannot be bought until the feature has been triggered which is an interesting twist. All the other menus can be found on the right side of the screen with the spin button and bet level.
Win Potential
Sadly, this game does not follow in Money Train 3's footsteps by improving the win potential from the previous game. Thunderstruck Stormchaser has the same RTP as the original with 96.10% which is above the average standard.
In addition to the RTP, this high volatility slot contains a maximum win of up to 10,000x stake. This is a great amount which is actually approachable, but it's lower than the previous game. We at Slot Gods believe that a sequel should be bigger and better, so this was slightly disappointing.
Our Verdict
Stormcraft Studios is definitely a studio to watch out for as the slot developers have completely revitalised the Thunderstruck slot series. This could easily become one of the best slot series out there if they keep up the momentum.
Thunderstruck Stormchaser goes above and beyond for an online slot with the details in the design and the wonderful features. Whether you love the series or not, do not miss out on this epic slot.
