Dio Killing the Dragon Review
Back in 1982, Ronnie James Dio had left Black Sabbath with the intention to form a brand new band. He brought along his fellow Black Sabbath member Vinny Appice and the rest is history. Deciding on the name of Dio, the band saw success for decades with ten studio albums released.
Sadly, all good things must come to an end and this happened in 2010 when Ronnie died of cancer. The band decided not to go on after this disbanding and ultimately preserving the legacy of Dio.
Fans nowadays only have the music to pay respects to. That was until Play'n GO brought back the essence of the band in the wonderous Dio Killing the Dragon. Combining fantasy and reality, this slot follows Ronnie as he takes on monsters and attempts to destroy the dragon.
Not your average branded slot, this one is absolutely overflowing with features from free spins to special symbols throughout. It's clear that this is the ultimate game for fans of the band.
Design
Where do we even start with this bizarre concept of a slot? It almost feels like a graphic novel with Ronnie as the hero dressed in unusual attire. This slot brings together all of the songs and album covers as Ronnie takes on Murray (a demon) throughout the slot.
Like most Play'n Go branded slots, there is a short animation at the start with a dragon chasing Ronnie as well as a host of other creatures. It's an incredible scene that really sets the stage for the slot.
Of course, there are other monsters in the way which he must slay such as lizards and beasts which just adds to his cool style. As for the design of Ronnie, Play'n GO has gone for his classic look from the 1980s with his curly hair which feels like a befitting tribute to the icon.
The best thing about this slot is easily the amazing music from Dio that plays throughout the slot. If you love the band, then this will be a dream for you. If you don't love the band, then we suggest giving it a try anyway as the music is absolutely incredible and not too heavy. The music definitely builds up the atmosphere of the slot.
Gameplay
Most people think of boring and basic gameplay with branded slots, but Dio Killing the Dragon avoids that entirely. With features throughout the base game and even a bonus round, there is so much to look forward to in this slot.
The menu bar at the bottom is designed to go with the visuals but is still easy to navigate. The spin button and bet level can be found on this bar with other settings available at the bottom left of the screen.
Win Potential
With a killer slot with amazing gameplay and stunning designs, you'd expect the slot to fail at the win potential. Play'n GO absolutely blows us away with the win potential as it ticks all the right boxes. It starts off with a high volatility level as well as a great RTP of 96.25%.
Dio Killing the Dragon does not disappoint with the maximum win as players can win up to 15,000x the stake. Throughout our gameplay, we experienced huge wins and memorable moments with the bonus features.
Our Verdict
When we opened up Dio Killing the Dragon, we didn't know what to expect. Thankfully, we were absolutely blown away by what was offered with the spectacular design that set the stage for the slot.
This combined with the glorious gameplay and wonderful win potential makes Dio Killing the Dragon one of the best-branded slots from Play'n GO which is quite the achievement. Whether you are a fan of Dio or not, you should definitely give this slot a spin.
