The game area has 15 paylines. To win, you need to land matching symbols along them, starting from the leftmost reel. Jack to Ace are the low pays, with a 5-of-a-kind being worth up to 4x the wagered amount. The alien disk jockey paraphernalia are the high pays. Land a 5-of-a-kind and you can pocket up to 50x. The Wilds substitute for all these pay symbols. Also, if you land a winning combo made up of Wilds, you can win up to 100x.
On each spin, each type of symbol can be allotted a multiplier value, and they frequently are. These values can be 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 7x, 10x or even 100x. You can see which value the symbol has on the Pay Rise grid above the main game area. If you land a payline win, it’ll also be multiplied by the symbol’s multiplier value.
If you manage to land 3, 4 or 5 bonus scatter symbols, you’ll win 5, 10 and 15 free spins respectively. During this Win Spins bonus round, the highest symbol multiplier values increase to 10x, 25x, 100x and 500x. You can also retrigger the round provided you land the requisite number of scatters again.

It was a great many spins before I was able to trigger the free spins round, but given the increased values of the multipliers, I’m not surprised. On any free spin, you always have the potential to have your payline wins multiplied by 500x!

With max payline win multipliers of up to 500x in the free spins round, the win potential hits warp speed 9. You also have the potential to retrigger the round. This is why I think the stated max win of 15,000x isn’t just the stuff of other dimensions.
The setting appears to be a nightclub in a UFO. The masked martian to the right of the grid is on the decks showing off its scratching skills. Purple lasers pierce the darkness of the club. The multi-coloured multiplier grid at the top of the screen evokes computer-gaming pioneer Space Invaders.
The graphics are quite simple, but the reels and the martian DJ are well-animated. I’ve played a lot of games that have gone for the 80s space-invaders aesthetic, and few have pulled it off. Rave Up, however, does a nice job of blending the smooth graphics of today with the retro ones of the past – its style and layout really set the game apart.
There’s a good chance the thumping 90s rave music will have you spinning faster than normal. It doesn’t just bring on waves of nostalgia; it’s actually pretty good to listen to. There are multipliers left, right and centre. Nonetheless, the designers have done a good job of providing us with a nice and clear layout. You can always see when and why you’re winning. The game is also nicely optimised for mobile.
Rogue’s Rave Up has a lot going for it. The audiovisual presentation will surely appeal to anyone lucky enough to have come of age in the 90s. The fascinating game mechanics make both the base game and the free spins rounds highly engaging. When it comes to win potential, this is one of the most interesting slots I’ve played in a while.
