Phat Cats Megaways Review
Think of any gangster movie that you have ever seen and then replace all of the characters with cats. Yep, that's right. This is an odd one, but we love it.
The Megaways game mechanics admittedly make the whole affair a million times better than it would have been. But in its own right, it has plenty of mini features and design aspects that come together and create a well-rounded slot title.
Design
From an audiovisual point of view, you couldn't really ask for anything more quirky than this. Presumably, we are in a mob boss's apartment somewhere high up in New York City.
There are some fantastic touches including laser lights passing by outside the window and a smoking cigar in the ashtray. It's the little things that go a long way.
The music is an odd choice. It's a bass riff that you may or may not be familiar with. But this does get a little better as the free spins round kicks in. They bust out the saxophones and it starts to sound like a late-night game show.
Gameplay
With games like this, there is plenty going on to keep you occupied during the base game. And that is really all we ask for as slots fans, isn't it? We don't want to spend the entire time praying for the free spins round to arrive.
And seeing as the volatility is so high, we aren't expecting to see too many wins roll around too frequently either. So it is essential that producers like Kalamba Games have decided to put a bit more effort into the production of recent titles. You never know what's going to happen next, and we quite like it that way.
Win Potential
There is a standard return to player of 96.15% and this helps keep it in line with most other slots in the industry. You can find some a little higher but we certainly can't grumble at this figure.
There is a massive 20,000x payout available and this will surely only occur when the stars align and those multipliers turn up in the free spins round. Keep your bet levels realistic as the high volatility will give your balance a thorough shakedown.
Our Verdict
Kalamba's Phat Cats Megaways is a lot of fun regardless of the win potential. And anyone that appreciates a little slot design ingenuity will have a little chuckle to themselves while playing this game.
However, it will come down to your choice of game style which will determine whether or not this is for you. Highly volatile slot games are very niche and only suit certain players.
