It’s no secret that I'm not a fan of 1-row slots – they tend to offer the most basic gameplay and very little in the way of a challenge. However, this is Nolimit City and you can always expect the unexpected with these guys.
You'll be grabbing weapons to bash the hell out of ugly creatures and open treasure chests to watch big wins hit your balance. Bosses arrive at various stages and this is where the rewards start to build up. There are also free spins available, so you might even be able to pick up that max win without paying for a spin!
You've got three reels, but there's only one reel and on this reel you can land blanks and weapons. The grid size doesn't change and nothing else appears, but don't let that fool you.
Each time a weapon symbol lands, you get a respin and this is important because respins will help you defeat the monsters.
Each weapon that lands will have a number of hits available and these will diminish the lives of the angry critters that stand before you. When you defeat a monster, it’ll die (no surprises there) and a new one will turn up and pick a fight with you.
If three blank symbols spin in, nothing happens and you simply pay for a new spin. Each weapon can randomly award a critical hit and this will take three lives from the monster and bring a new one along from the conveyor belt.
Each time a monster dies, you get a treasure chest which delivers additional benefits. You could see multipliers, respins, bonus entry, upgrades, extra chests, shrink potions and silver swords. They all work in their own way to help defeat monsters and bring cash to your bankroll.
For every four monsters that you defeat, you go up against a boss and when you defeat the big guys, you get a level-up feature. These features are persistent until the end of the winning sequence.
You can have up to three of them active at any one time or possibly four if you make it to the super version of the bonus game. You'll see sticky multipliers worth up to 5x, extra chests, upgraded weapons, upgraded chests, golden swords which award winds up to 15x and another symbol that just continuously attacks the monsters!
If you're lucky enough to land three scatter symbols during the base game, you get five free spins. The game continues in much the same way, but obviously you won't have to pay for the privilege of spinning these reels!
Features carry over into the bonus round and they remain persistent throughout. For every weapon symbol that appears, you pick up an extra free spin.
If one of the triggering scatter symbols is a super symbol, you’ll take on the advanced version of the bonus game, but you might wonder why it's so advanced! The truth is that not much changes but now you can have up to four level-up features assisting you to pick up big wins.
At the end of the bonus game, you might be offered a chance to buy an extra spin and the price will depend on how the bonus round has gone for you. This final spin could trigger a large cash prize before you head back to the base game.
There are lots of boosters and bonus entry options available and for 90x you can buy the regular free spins game. 200x will take you to the super version and if you want to take the 50/50 chance, you'll have to pay 145x. God Mode could provide the max win with just one spin but you'll have to pay 2,500x to find out. Boosters range from 2.2x to 78x and will offer you various features and benefits from the game to enjoy during your enhanced spins.
Each time you defeat a monster, you get a treasure chest which could take you into the bonus game or offer extras, such as multipliers and respins. When you defeat bosses, you’ll grab multipliers, extra chests and other benefits.
Landing three scatter symbols will trigger a standard version of the free spins game where your features continue from the base game and remain persistent. If one of your triggering scatter symbols is a super symbol, you can accumulate up to four level-ups throughout the feature. You might be offered an extra spin at the end to see if you can pick up a big cash prize.
You will need to defeat many monsters to unlock the treasure chests and pick up some fairly small rewards during this game. The vast majority are quite small multipliers of your bet amount but you could see them upgrade and eventually pick up a 1,000x reward from some treasure chest. Defeating bosses helps the situation as the upgrades start to kick in.
Playing the bonus game isn’t essential but having your persistent features go with you is certainly a benefit that you won't turn down! I didn't see any wins take me anywhere close to the 11,916x max payout but with this high volatility, you might be the lucky one that sees the mechanic explode into action and deliver something special.
Nolimit City’s slot design is always quite distinctive and these games generally leave you wondering where the designer has got their ideas from. This is an eclectic mix of a cartoon-style dungeon, satanic references and perhaps a nod to Little Shop of Horrors! It won’t be for everyone, but neither will this game in general!
As I said at the top, I'm not a fan of 1-row games but Kill Em All has gone some way towards changing my opinion. It just shows that when a developer puts their mind to it, a basic setup doesn't have to mean limited gameplay. There's a lot going on here and it's fun watching everything come together and potentially grab you some big rewards at the same time.
