Zombie aPOPalypse Review
With AvatarUX, there is no telling what you'll get with the slot. Visually, the slots are masterpieces paired with unique and original gameplay. Following on from CritterPop, AvatarUX returns with a slot that expands upon PopWins with MultiPop.
Have you ever wondered what would happen if zombies took over the world? Zombie aPOPalypse showcases exactly that and it's up to you to survive the onslaught of zombies heading your way!
There are rewards for surviving (other than not being a mindless zombie) in the form of multipliers and wins of up to 20,000x stake. So grab your closest weapon and fastest shoes to escape the walking dead in Zombie aPOPalypse.
Design
The designers have definitely gone for a comic book style replicating The Walking Dead. Most of the symbols look like familiar characters from the graphic novel such as Rick Grimes and Angela with the rest of the characters looking like horror B-movie stereotypes.
The visuals of this slot may not be for everyone as they are hard to look at during certain moments, but it's easy to appreciate the effort from the developers and see exactly what the inspiration was.
In terms of the background of the slot, it's a static image of a town torn up and we were disappointed that there was no animation throughout. Despite this negative, the music makes up for it with eerie music that feels like it's ripped directly out of a chase scene.
Gameplay
After so many hits from AvatarUX, we were expecting something big with MultiPop and sadly were left a little disappointed. We were hopeful the mechanic would be like PopWins but with added multipliers and even more ways to win - but that's not the case.
Whilst this mechanic isn't what we expected, that's not to say that the gameplay is bad. The MultiPop is fascinating to see and will lead to some mega wins as well.
Win Potential
With MultiPop, there is a huge win potential in this slot with a grand maximum win of 20,000x stake. This is a huge amount that is almost unheard off in modern online slots as it's both achievable but also appealing to players.
There is also high volatility in this slot with an RTP of 96.01%. This is over the average standard and the volatility will lead players to big wins but less frequently.
Our Verdict
Zombie aPOPalypse both delights and surprises us with the gameplay. On the one hand, it seems that there is so much going on that players will be able to trigger at least something. However, it feels like the gameplay is lacking compared to other slots from AvatarUX.
The same can be said for the design. It feels like the developers were going for a pulp tone - but it just feels cheap at times and not the usual standard. Whilst this slot is masterful and intriguing, it certainly does not feel like the best that AvatarUX has to offer. Take this slot with a pinch of salt, and you should have a great time with it.
