Monsters Unchained Features
If you want to see any modifying mastery then you are going to need to unchain those monsters and release their hidden powers. Between the three of them, they offer multipliers, expanding reels and wild symbols as well.
It all takes place on the 10th spin and you can see where you are in the cycle by looking to the top of the screen. Regular winning combos occur on spins 1 to 9 and there's also a chance that one of the coloured hammers can land to break the corresponding chain of the monster.
When you reach the 10th spin, all of the broken chains create a modifier and they grow in intensity with the more chains you have broken. It's a little hard to explain but it doesn't take a lot of getting used to.
Modifiers & bonus game
The Minotaur expands the reels to 5x4 if one of his chains is destroyed. This goes further to 5x5 with 2 chains destroyed and 6x5 with all three chains destroyed. As a result, the larger grid brings extra win lines into play with a maximum of 15,625 available as all three chains stretch that grid as far as it will possibly go.
Medusa will add Wilds with 2 or 3 Wilds for her first chain, 4 or 5 for the second chain and 6 or 7 for the third chain. Cerberus provides multipliers and has as an x2 or x3 multiplier for 1 chain, x4 or x5 for 2 chains and x6 or x7 for 3 chains.
Moving on to the bonus feature, we have a fairly standard free spins game with 10 free plays coming your way when you land 3 Monster Scatter symbols. The slight difference here is that breaking just 1 of the chains will unleash the modifier on the next spin and you don't have to wait until the end. Obviously, there are only 10 free spins and you wouldn't see any modifiers at all if the base game mechanic continued in the bonus feature!
Breaking all 3 chains of any individual monster will bring 3 additional bonus spins so that means you could have 19 free spins if all goes well.
