Fighting your demons and going into battle with this slot means taking on not only a horrible theme but also a slightly different mechanic than you might be used to. This grid slot produces a scatter pays mechanic and floats the symbols up from below like balloons! You're starting to see the IT references all over the place.
Winning symbols are made up of low-paying royals with a max payout of 10x for a group of 16 or more symbols. The five picture symbols can grab you up to 50x. A group of eight symbols is the minimum requirement for any of the symbol combos.
You don't need symbols to join in any way as this is a scatter pays slot and that means they can just simply land anywhere on the grid. As wins are collected, winning symbols disappear and new ones repopulate the grid – you could land an additional payout if you are lucky.
Beyond this, you also have multiplier figures worth between 2x and 500x that land on the regular grid spaces. Wins are added to a total win meter and then multipliers are used to improve these rewards.
If needle boxes land, they'll activate after all wins have been awarded and will trigger the removal of some symbols. One type of needle box gets rid of the low-paying symbols and the other removes the high-payers. For each one of the symbols that are removed, you can get payouts worth up to 0.5x. There are also some multiplying multipliers which can increase the performance of the aforementioned payout multipliers.
That's the base game taken care of and now we move on to the bonus round.
Landing three free spins symbols during the base game will activate the basic bonus round with 10 free spins as your compensation. The base game mechanics continue into the feature area and you won't notice a lot of difference except for an increased chance of landing higher multipliers.
There’s a Bounty balloon that duplicates any applied multipliers and you pick this up if you manage to pop the balloon with an Epic Needle Box. This multiplier returns back to zero after it has been used.
If you hit four scatter symbols as you play your base game spins, you'll pick up the advanced version of the bonus and this also contains 10 free spins. It's pretty much the same except that the multiplier value that you might collect from the Bounty Balloon stays intact rather than starting from zero after you pop it.
With both bonus games, extra free spins are available when you land more free spins symbols.
If you want to see each spin five times more likely to trigger a bonus game, then you can select the feature spins option which comes with high volatility and costs 3x your bet. Watch as the grid empties out and makes way for new symbols when Needle Boxes land. Some remove low-paying symbols while others remove high-paying symbols. Either way, you get awarded a small prize for each symbol that's removed.

Thanks to the medium volatility, the base game benefits from reasonable payouts that come with fairly regular frequency. If you're lucky, you could hit up to 10,000x.
The volatility increases if you purchase direct entry to the bonus games but this could mean that your wins improve. I took on the advanced bonus game and witnessed those extra balloon multipliers coming into play, but my final payout was only just above 100x. I was hoping for better but I can see that bigger prizes are waiting to be discovered.
The RTP is 96.24%.
Given my severe aversion to clowns, I'd like to avoid discussing the design in too much detail! It is fantastically terrifying with two demonic jesters straddling the grid. The base game music is the stuff of nightmares but moving into the bonus game sees everything become a little more upbeat. If you ever want to play this slot on a mobile phone, then be my guest.
How do you sum up a game like Klowns? Perhaps I wasn't the best person to complete this review as I wanted to close the game down as soon as possible and stop looking into the souls of these horrific characters. However, when I finally got over myself, I started to enjoy the multipliers and needle boxes that have the power to modify your wins.
It's obvious that huge wins are possible with the game so despite my reservations regarding the protagonist, I'm going to back this creation all the way.
