Surely Octoplay isn't making a political statement about gambling, is it?! I wouldn't have thought so. I imagine they simply decided that zombies and Vegas would be a great mix – I agree! This small four-reel game area sees zombies and heroes go head to head in a clash that could bring big jackpot prizes back from the dead and into your balance.
You could be forgiven for thinking that this is going to be a slightly innocent trip down the strip with a few basic playing card symbols picking up small wins and a very limited five-pay-line setup.
However, the higher paying symbols will take you far beyond the results achieved by the aces. 5x is the max win for the basic symbols but 25x is achievable with the red fiery skull symbols. Moving on from regular symbols and you find the big wilds and a set of four of these can grab you 50x!
The big wilds are made up of ally and enemy characters, but that doesn't really matter during the base game as they provide much the same service. They have designated reels and land as full stacks and will substitute for regular payers.
The interesting thing about these characters is that they hold cash chips and these are instant prizes. You won't win the instant prizes during the base game but they could trigger the bonus round. The red chips are worth between 1x and 3x, the blue ones get you up to 9x and the green chips pay up to 15x.
Showdown spins is where the fun really begins! You start with 500 health points and during this feature, you'll only see big wilds and empty symbols landing. The wilds are designated as allies or enemies and this is important as they're going to battle it out to see how much you win.
When characters land, they are locked and they battle against each other to remove points. The power depletes and they're destroyed when the attack power reaches zero. The enemies carry cash and jackpot prizes which get collected when the allies destroy them.
The allies also carry cash chips, which they distribute as they land. The game ends when your health bar hits zero and your cash and jackpot skulls reveal their prizes.
Ally and enemy characters land as wild symbols that appear as complete stacks on a reel. They substitute for your other regular payers with designated reels upon which they can land and offer their services. They play an integral part in the bonus game as they send coins to the top of the game area and trigger the Showdown Spins.
The wild symbols carry cash chips worth up to 15x and these are important during the bonus game. You start with 500 health points and watch enemies and allies go up against each other to remove each other's health points and award prizes. Once you run out of health, it's game over and your score is totalled up and turned into prizes. As enemies are destroyed, they add to the jackpot collection.
I spun these reels for a long time in the base game to build up as many wins as possible but even the low volatility couldn't help my balance – that's because the hit rate is equally as low. You're basically spinning to try and trigger the bonus game and that's a bit of a shame as the base game becomes a little mundane. Once you get to the bonus battle, you could see some jackpot prizes appear and it won't take long before somebody hits that 1,522x max win, I’m sure.
With a name like this, you're going to want to see something burn on the strip and that's exactly what you'll get! Vegas is now a shadow of its former self as the zombies run riot but the show must go on and the game continues to play in the middle of the screen.
It's quite a small grid with some basic symbols but you've got a couple of oddballs thrown in just a mix things up a bit. The gritty skyline has a post-apocalyptic feel, and as is often the case with this theme, you get some harsh electric guitar additions to keep the tension as high as the Strat Tower.
Vegas is Dead Battle Arena hasn't got a huge game area with interesting payline mechanics, massive jackpot prizes, eye-watering max win or indeed a ton of huge multipliers. So why would you want to play it? The fact is that it's got low volatility with a very achievable max win and it's a lot of fun watching zombies and heroes bash the hell out of each other to win you prizes. You certainly won't see this every day, so grab it while you can and get spinning!
