Trigger Happy takes us back to the 80s arcade to fulfil our retro fix quite nicely! These strange little furballs don't seem entirely sure why they’re appearing on this grid but you shouldn't let that bother you. There's a chance they could bring big wins and various modifying action your way.
Grid slots like Trigger Happy don't rely on fixed pay lines; instead, you simply need 5 or more matching symbols to land on the grid and connect horizontally or vertically.
The symbols are various critters that may have appeared from outer space, but who really knows? The lowest produce up to 15x for a 15+ group of them whilst the most powerful is the purple chap with a mustache and a crown! For 15 or more of these, you'll get 50x.
Winning symbols disappear from view and new ones will replace them.
Wild symbols appear, but not without the help of a target. With each spin and every cascading sequence, a target appears on the screen and sticks a Wild symbol in its place. The Bonus Panels across the bottom and left-hand side of the grid will also produce some extra modifiers to lift your spirits and hopefully your bankroll.
Multiplier figures that align with a target will multiply any wins that the Wild symbol is now part of. This can happen on both sides of the grid, so a double multiplier is possible. If a bomb lands in line with your target, the entire row disappears and up to 4 Wilds will take the place of any removed symbols. Finally, if a gold coin falls in line with the target on both Bonus Panels, you collect 8 free spins.
The free spins game is very similar to the base game but you should see more wins and a little added excitement at the same time. You now have 2 targets creating Wild symbols in their own distinct places on the grid and there's a good chance that multipliers will line up more frequently. To get additional spins, you'll need to line up the 2 coins as you did previously, but at least you've got 2 targets to play with now.

In theory, you should be able to reach big prizes at any stage of this game, but the double target feature during the bonus game will probably do the main damage. It did for me but I wasn't able to trigger the bonus spins straight away - I used the bonus buy-in. This won't be available for players in the UK, but in jurisdictions where it is, it costs 100x. I walked away a little bit down from where I started but I did have fun and I'm pretty sure the potential is there to push you towards the 50,000x max win on a good day. It will require the help of the super high volatility and 96.58% RTP.
Despite their sharp-looking teeth and slightly twisted demeanour, you can't help but form a connection with these cute little furballs. I don't know what they're supposed to be or where they've come from, but I like them! The 80s arcade look and feel has been reproduced perfectly by BTG and it sends you right back there to your childhood. It's a great effort on the design front and even mobile gamers are going to be happy with the results on their smaller screens as well.
Aiming your target at these harmless aliens seems a little callous but it is an essential element of this game. Without it, you’re simply getting a Wild symbol with a spin, and that wouldn't have been so dramatic! It's the Bonus Panels that produce the firepower in reality and the multipliers, free spins and Wild Bombs make a huge difference to your balance and your concentration levels. It's nice to see something a little different from Big Time Gaming and I think Trigger Happy will form quite a decent fan club fairly soon.
