The Walking Dead 2 Review
It may come as a surprise to many that The Walking Dead only found life within the iGaming world just in 2021 with Playtech despite starting in 2010. Playtech released The Walking Dead slot in 2021 and it became a classic amongst slot players.
Deciding to try and relive that magic, the developers decided to create a sequel with The Walking Dead 2. This slot returns with loads of features and familiar faces that couldn't fit in the first slot.
Design
The slot opens up strong with an animation of Walkers heading towards the screen. Sadly, when the slot opens up the gameplay, there is a static background that looks quite bland with no animation. Players are placed on a street in a residential area - but there's nothing overly special about it.
On the reels, everyone's favourite characters return Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Daryl (Norman Reedus), and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) with a special appearance from the beloved Beth (Emily Kinney). Aside from these characters, this game could literally be another generic zombie slot.
Despite this, the audio sounds like it's straight out of the television show with eerie music with synth noises and uneasy sounds creating an intense atmosphere.
Gameplay
The core gameplay of this slot is quite exciting with the Split Reel feature and the Walking Wilds. Alongside this, players will find a variety of free spins and even fixed jackpots which are easy to understand.
Most of the relevant buttons can be found to the right of the screen with the spin button and bet level here. However, there is an information button to the left side with the paytable and other options for players to look at.
Win Potential
With branded slots, you expect low RTP and low maximum wins - but the developers have improved upon the general win potential compared to the original. The Walking Dead 2 has a better RTP of 95.48% which is still under the average standard but expected for a branded slot.
As for the volatility level, players will find a medium volatility level leading to a mixture of low and high wins. The maximum win is much better with a maximum win of 5,000x your stake which is decent for a TV/Movie slot.
Our Verdict
There are definitely elements of the original game that have been improved, but sadly the design lets The Walking Dead 2 down completely. This could be any other zombie slot without the characters and Playtech could've gone the extra mile by adding in extra animations.
Despite this, the overall gameplay and win potential are pretty solid leaving some thrilling moments throughout the slot. If you love branded slots and The Walking Dead, this slot is definitely worth checking out for a spin or two.
