Narcos Mexico Review
Narcos is a beloved TV series that is popular due to the subject matter and overall excitement of the show. The original TV show Narcos became iconic through its exploration of the rise of the cocaine trade in Colombia whilst tackling real-life stories of drug kingpins in the late 1980s. So much so that it inspired an online slot from NetEnt with Narcos.
Unfortunately, this slot did not deliver and fans were left feeling dissatisfied. Fast-forward a couple of years and Red Tiger Gaming took the reigns in adapting the beloved Narcos Mexico series. Narcos Mexico follows the show with Felix Gallardo (portrayed by Diego Luna) unifying traffickers to build an empire in Guadalajara.
Playing on 5-reels with 243 ways to win, this medium to high volatility slot features a whole host of features that fans will absolutely love as well as an improved win potential.
Set in an extravagant mansion, Narcos Mexico starts off in front of a beautiful home - but it's clear to see that there has just been a huge fight here beforehand. Cars surrounding the reels are destroyed and filled with bullet holes.
Thankfully, the design of this slot is brilliant and takes you straight to the frontline. During certain features, there are animations and extra sound effects that are definitely welcomed. It should be noted that the characters that appear in this slot look just like they do in the show and not at all like an unfaithful copy.
The music for this slot fits the tone of the show perfectly with some Mexican inspired music with Guitarrón Mexicano, trumpets and other instruments making the slot feel authentic. It's easy to see that Red Tiger Gaming took care to make sure that this slot was faithful.
There is so much going on in this slot and the beauty of it all - is that most can strike at any time. There are two random features that can trigger to enhance the gameplay as well as multiple ways of triggering the Cartel Spins.
At the bottom of the screen, there is a spin button followed by the bet level. Further to the left, there is an additional menu leading to the paytable as well as the help button.
Narcos Mexico definitely improved the win potential from the original game. Firstly, the maximum win is a massive 10,486x your stake which is brilliant for a branded slot.
There is also a high volatility level leading to larger wins but less frequently. Sadly, the RTP is lower than the original, but it's not too low at 95.70%. Anything under 96% is usually advised to be avoided, but with a branded slot or jackpot slot, it's expected.
There are many branded slots out there that try to capture the magic of the source material but thankfully Narcos Mexico manages to do that. Everyone's favourite characters are back and the intensity of the show is brought to the online slot.
From the gameplay to the design, Narcos Mexico shows developers exactly how to make a branded slot. It's easy to see Narcos Mexico being one of the stand-out branded slots because it's just so fun to play. Do yourself a favour and give Narcos Mexico a spin.
