Rock Bottom Review
According to the developers, Rock Bottom is all about the 5 stages of grief. However, in true Nolimit City style, it's done in quite a dark and wacky way. Rock Bottom literally takes you to the bottom of grief and it's up to you to climb back up.
Thankfully, there are many different features waiting to improve your status with xSplit, Headshrinker Spins, Insanity Spins and xCap. All of these combine to create an experience that only Nolimit City can deliver.
Design
Nolimit City has definitely gone for a more artistic motif with a black and white background paired with bright colours for the symbols. The street feels extremely dark and seedy with shady characters in the windows.
As for the different 'stages' of grief, these are represented by characters on the reels. There are characters representing bargaining, depression, acceptance, denial and anger with each looking like popular figures throughout history.
Anger looks like Travis Barker from Taxi Driver, whilst denial looks like Blac Chyna. There's no telling if this was the intention but it does lighten the slot up a lot.
Another great design choice in this slot is easily the win screens. Each has a unique design that tells a story and is often tragically hilarious. There is also an epic grungy score throughout the slot which is definitely the best part about the design as it fits the mood perfectly.
Gameplay
Unlike most other Nolimit City slots, there is nothing too complicated about this game. There are only a handful of xMechanics including xSplit and the new xCap which improves the win by adding multipliers.
In addition to these, there are two bonus rounds with both being quite similar. Of course, it wouldn't be a Nolimit City slot without multipliers and these come during free spins with the expanded symbols. Evidently, the gameplay is straightforward but full of thrilling moments.
Win Potential
There may be some players put off by the lack of a massive win in this slot but that does not lower the quality of the slot. In Rock Bottom, you can only win up to 19,960x the stake in this slot which can be gained through the xCap feature. When a win of 1,969x the stake appears, you'll be given multipliers between x2 to x10.
If it wasn't clear already, then you'll find that this high volatility contains massive wins but is less frequent. However, the game is not as intense as other Nolimit City slots.
Our Verdict
Rock Bottom does not feel like your typical Nolimit City slot as it does feel quite tame compared to others in terms of the gameplay. However, the design fits perfectly into the Nolimit City ethos of breaking down boundaries and being unafraid to try anything.
Players looking for something unusual and wacky should look no further than Rock Bottom. Whilst this may not be the greatest slot from the developer, it definitely feels like a classic Nolimit City slot with the overall tone.
