As the Nitropolis 4/5 mini-series draws to a close, everybody's wondering what ELK is going to throw at us next. But let's not get ahead of ourselves as there’s still plenty to enjoy here before we look forward to the future.
Getting your head around this grid will take some time and you may not have seen anything like it before. This isn't the first time I've said that with an ELK slot! Wins begin from any of the 4 edges and winning combinations require matching symbols between 3 and 6 strong - winning symbols disappear and make way for new ones.
The lowest payers are the royal symbols with the ace producing 0.7x for a group of 6. The picture symbols can fetch you up to 2x for a group of 6 and even though this sounds quite low, you'll see that the features can increase these wins very nicely.
Nitro Reels are an old favorite in this series with the central 4x4 grid able to produce symbols with a number on them. This number represents how many symbols are within this singular symbol.
It can turn an individual symbol into 6 symbols, for example. This number may receive an upgrade at some point and they'll also feature heavily during the bonus games.
Look to the 4 corners of the grid and you'll see a familiar feature screen which presents various modifiers while you play.
Collecting 3 bonus symbols means 6 free spins and a random number of Nitro Reels arriving with every spin. There is an upgraded version that comes with landing a Super Bonus symbol with 2 other regular ones and for this, the Nitro Reels remain sticky until the end of the feature. Within the central 4x4 game area, symbols can land with additional stacks of the same symbol attached. This could lead to bigger winning combos and you might even upgrade the Nitro figure. Nitro Insane can add more Nitro Reels out of the blue.
The screens may show Make Big, Collect, Nitro Wild or Nitro Match at any time. The results are that random symbols get bigger, coin values are collected, reels transform into Nitro Reels with Wilds or Nitro Reels are matched to a random symbol.

25,000x is a fairly standard max payout these days from ELK and this is good news as he could result in a substantial win, depending on the size of your bet. Producing wins up to this amount is highly unlikely during the base game but the Super Bonus game could get you up there with its sticky Nitro Reels. Everything feels a little more Nitropolis 4 and maybe this is on purpose to get us ready for the release of number 5. It's a futuristic, industrial structure with lots of neon colours and bright lights. The game looks amazing on all devices and this includes mobile phones as well - I played on my Android device and could not fault it. The music goes from slightly tense with a bit of police radio chatter in the background to completely over-the-top thrash metal as you hit the bonus game.
