Power of Love Review
It's safe to say that this slot will not appeal to every type of player. This game is easily for those who love romantic slots or unique mechanics. If you love both, then this could be a match made in heaven.
Developed by Reel Life Games and produced by Yggdrasil, Power of Love is a romantic slot that plays on 5-reels with 40 paylines. Bypass the tacky graphics and you'll find tremendous gameplay with some innovative features. This is the definition of do not judge a book by its cover!
Design
The minute this slot opens up, you'll see that it's all over the place. There is a scary cherub at the top right of the screen floating and then the reels are to the right.
Strangely enough, the reels contain a man and a woman getting ready for a date. Both of them look like Hollywood stars from the 1950s and it fits in with the retro theme. The man looks like Dean Martin, whilst the lady looks like a mixture of Diana Dors and Jayne Mansfield.
As for the other symbols on the reels, you'll find different date items such as champagne, rings and roses. Alongside these, there are lower-paying symbols and other special symbols that may look quite strange but increase the gameplay. On the right side of the screen, there is a love meter that looks like the cheesy thing you'll find in arcades or bars.
One aspect that did surprise us in a good way is the music. There is a subtle jazz score played throughout that feels like the sort of music you'd find in a 1950s romantic comedy such as Doris Day films. It's a cool attention to detail that elevates the design from terrible to okay.
Gameplay
At first glance, this slot may look absolutely terrible and like there is nothing to it at all. Thankfully, that is not the case and that is why we ended up reviewing the game.
There are actually unique mechanics throughout this slot with stacked symbols, symbol improvement, reel expansions and more. We were delightfully surprised by everything this slot had to offer!
Win Potential
In Power of Love, we half expected to win potential to be terrible. This is another aspect that surprised us as the win potential featured an RTP of 96% which is above average as well as a decent maximum win.
You can win up to 7,602x the stake in this slot which is a pretty decent amount. This is a large amount that isn't too high that it's unattainable but isn't too low that it's not worth it. The game finds the right balance and we were certainly happy with it.
Our Verdict
Power of Love is not the greatest slot ever but it's not the worst one either. We had a pleasantly great experience with the slot - even if we had to look away from the terrible graphics at times.
Visually, this slot looks like it was made in 2005 but the gameplay certainly makes up for it. That was our only issue with this slot and we're hoping that Reel Life Games and Yggdrasil work together again but deliver something that holds up to Yggdrasil's high design standards.
