When a simple sip won’t do, you’ve got to get down and slurp it all up. That’s what ELK Studios’ Slurpy is all about. Instead of landing matching symbols, you need to get your characters to slurp any of their symbols that might be in reach, and the originality doesn’t stop there!
The grid’s dimensions start off at 5x5, and there are 6 different characters, or ‘Slurpies’. On each spin, a random Slurpy will appear above the grid. If one of their symbols is on the top row, they’ll be able to slurp it up.
They’ll also slurp up all other instances of that symbol, provided they’re connected to the previous one. As play progresses, a Slurpy can always slurp its symbols as long as there’s a cleared pathway between Slurpy and its symbol(s).
All 6 symbols are worth the same. If you slurp between 10 and 14 of them, you win 2x the stake. Between 15 and 19 is worth 5x. Between 20 and 29 is 10x. 30 and 39 is 100x. And if you manage to slurp more than 40 instances of the same symbol, you’ll win 200x!
All slurped symbols make way for new ones to drop down, but only after all Slurpies have finished slurping. You start off with only 1 Slurpy, but once you hit a winning combination, another Slurpy gets added.
If 1 of the 2 can’t hit a win, the leftmost Slurpy leaves and another Slurpy comes in from the right. If neither character hits a win, the Second Chance feature is triggered, where again, the leftmost character leaves, allowing for another one to come in. This continues until there are no more wins, then you reset to just 1 Slurpy per spin.
If you manage to slurp up all symbols, the grid expands to 6x6. Clear all symbols again, and the grid will expand to 7x7. Do so yet again and the global multiplier will increase by 5.
There are lots of feature symbols - firstly, wilds substitute for all standard pay symbols. The Coin pays its value multiplied by the stake and the Multiplier adds its value to the global multiplier. The Level Up symbol expands the grid to 7x7 and an extra Slurpy adds an extra Slurpy character - you can end up with 3 in total.
The Long Straw allows Slurpies to collect symbols not on the top row. The Double Symbol can connect 2 different types of symbol. If a Slurpie hits the Super Straw, they’ll slurp all instances of their symbols, regardless of where they are on the grid.
If you manage to slurp 3 bonus symbols, you trigger the Bonus Game. You get 5 free drops, although you get 2 more free drops for every subsequent bonus symbol you slurp. During the round, the grid level, global multiplier and number of active slurpies never reset.
When triggering the bonus, if one of your bonus symbols is a super bonus, you trigger the Super Bonus Game, which is basically the same as the standard one, but you start off with 3 Slurpies and the maximum grid size.
Players outside the UK should be able to use the X-iter function, which allows you to buy instant access to some of the features e.g. the Bonus Game costs 100x the stake.
Due to the game’s originality, it’s very hard to get bored. It’s not just because of the game’s base concept either. The host of Feature Symbols are a frequent occurrence and serve to make the base game even more engaging.
It wasn’t long before I managed to trigger the free spins round; however, I was left a little disappointed by the size of my haul. I think that was mainly down to bad luck, though. Yes, you only get 5 free drops, but given how the grid, Slurpies and global multiplier all function, I could see a lot of scope for big returns.

Landing 3 scatters awards 5 free drops. Use them in conjunction with extra Slurpies, expanding grids and increased global multipliers, which don’t reset. Super Bonus starts with the maximum 3 Slurpies and a 7x7 grid.
A 94% RTP is a little low and it has a highly volatile mathematical model - but that’s how it goes with ELK these days. I felt the game was a little more generous than those numbers would otherwise suggest, though. The value of the standard pay symbols is a little low, but the features, especially the Feature Symbols, mean you can still see some decent base-game wins.
At 5,000x, the max win is a little lower than I’d normally expect. Mind you, if you’re lucky enough to trigger the Super Bonus Game, you could be in with a very real chance of hitting it. Given the potential size of the grid and the number of active Slurpies, even the standard bonus round could prove highly lucrative.
The game’s location appears to be a desaturated minimalist painting of someone’s kitchen. The vibrant colours of the 5x5 grid and the Slurpie in the middle of the screen is a stark contrast: its style is reminiscent of 8-bit games consoles. As weird as this clash of styles sounds, it works. The game looks great.
It sounds great, too. Like the visuals, the music evokes early-90s computer games, and the sound effects of the slurps and the falling symbols are really satisfying.
Typical of ELK Studios, the game is really well laid out, so even though there are loads of features, you’ll easily be able to follow what’s going on. The same goes whether you’re playing on mobile or desktop.
Slurpy is one of the most fun and most original games I’ve played in a long time. I’m a big fan of ELK Studios, but they’ve really pulled the stops out for this one. It’s got something for all types of slot enthusiasts. I couldn’t recommend it enough.
