Outsourced: Payday Review

It's probably best to make this clear from the start, you need to be in an area that accepts bonus buy-ins and enhancers to enjoy this game properly. The base game is a fairly lacklustre affair and although it's a little different from what you’re used to, you might be disappointed if you're stuck there for a long time. For everybody else, let's crack on and take a look at what's in store.

Gameplay & Features

Don't trouble yourself with talk of clever payline mechanics or hefty grids. This is about as basic as it gets and it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

What you're working with is a conveyor belt which contains multiplier prizes worth up to 1,000x. The good news is that you have a claw that can pick up any of these prizes but the bad news is that it won't pick up a prize with every spin.

The lowest amount available is 2x and you're far more likely to see these engaged during the base game. As an extra kick in the teeth, the claw can sometimes/often pick up a multiplier and drop it at the same time. You think you've grabbed a win but you haven't.

One of the items along the conveyor belt is the Claw Spins symbol which offers three free plays in the bonus area.

Bonus Game

During the bonus game, only multipliers with a minimum of 2x will show and you can still grab up to 1,000x. The good news is that you're playing for free but the bad news is that the claw can still drop these prizes during its grabbing action. If you pick up an extra Claw Spins symbol, you play even more free games.

The bulk of the fun comes from direct purchases for feature spins and access is going to be dependent on the jurisdiction where you play your slots.

For 35x your bet, you can grab the three Claw Spins and you'll have one claw doing the hard work throughout. If you prefer to see three claws working away at the same time, it'll cost you 150x. You can play three Claw Spins with five claws in action with each of your free games and this will set you back 400 times your bet. 1.6 times your bet means that items picked up by the claw can never be dropped and 4x your bet guarantees you three claws with each spin. If you want five claws with each spin, this will cost you 10x.

If you'd rather just bypass the whole game and have a crack at landing the max win, it'll cost you 997x!

I was drawn towards the feature spins as I found the base game very dull. I ended up playing God Mode several times and after burning through pretty much my entire balance, the claw finally picked up the max win! But wait… it then dropped the symbol and I won nothing.

Outsourced: Payday - Claw Machine

Claw Machine

The game centres around the Payday Claw which hovers above the conveyor belt. The goodies on offer across this conveyor belt are multipliers and Claw Spin entries. If your claw successfully grabs any of these prizes, you pick up the win or head off to play some extra free spins.

Outsourced: Payday - Claw Spins

Claw Spins

If the claw picks up the packet containing Claw Spins, you'll receive three free spins (so to speak). You can add to the spins by grabbing extra Claw Spins items during the bonus and only multipliers greater than 2x appear in the bonus game.

Win Potential

Outsourced: Payday has got some incredibly high volatility for players to deal with and in theory, it means you should see some dead spins before hitting something pretty decent. However, you also have extremely low hit frequency chomping away at your balance as well – don't expect to see much action anytime soon.

I didn't see any big wins and even when paying for God Mode, I can't express how disappointed I was with the results! The RTP is 96%.

Design

One area where Nolimit City rarely lets us down is the design and overall concept that their games present. Admittedly, this Outsourced theme feels like it's run its course now but it's been a pleasant journey nonetheless.

You have some very familiar Nolimit graphics to enjoy and with this instalment of the outsourced series, it's another machine you're going up against. Even on smaller mobile devices, players can appreciate the hard work that's gone into this creation.

For me, the star of the show was the audio and beyond the clever comments here and there, you get some amusing music to listen to throughout the bonus game, which actually has a pretty decent beat to it.

Our Verdict

The main burning question in my mind is whether or not this is actually a slot game! Boundaries have been pushed lately and with the introduction of Crash Gaming, we've seen things go off on various tangents, but this just feels like it’s turned the wrong corner!

I'm not completely opposed to the one-line games like this but when the prizes can be collected (after waiting ages) and then simply drop away again, you're asking for disappointment. I think many fans are going to kick up a bit of a stink about this one. It's a swing and a miss for me.

If you like the theme, head back a step to the crash version and try out Outsourced: Slash Game.
