London Tube Review
We've been racking our brains to find a way to introduce some fun underground terminology but so far, this urban transport system doesn't seem to be providing much inspiration! Feel free to send us some suggestions and we’ll happily make any updates that you request!
What is clear so far, is that without the trains, we can't expect any great things to happen and it's also obvious that the features and modifiers are going to produce reasonably modest results most of the time. That isn't to say that big one-off wins aren't waiting at the next station though.
Design
It's a fairly grimy adaptation of the London underground system that some people might think looks more like New York, but that's just splitting hairs. The animated elements come in the form of a train arriving every 10 spins and also the gold frames moving randomly during the free spins bonus. Regular symbols are made up of a few tourists plus a grumpy-looking policeman and the main symbol to look out for is, of course, the tube sign.
If you’d like to find yourself in a slightly lame Inception-style situation, then you could always load this game up on your mobile whilst riding the Tube. However, our friends over at Transport for London inform us that the Wi-Fi signal won't be reaching the rails at every station until the end of 2024, but feel free to have a go in the ticket hall.
The soundtrack and sound effects are a mixture of crowd noises, which you might expect on a train platform, along with a busker playing the guitar in the background. Nothing out of the ordinary to listen out for!
Game Play
If it wasn’t for the Tube symbols leaving their gold frames behind, the base game would be quite a dull affair. But as it happens, they turn up fairly frequently and make the arrival of a new train quite exciting. Pretty decent cash prizes, ways multipliers and Wild symbols will adorn the reels at this point and make the previous 9 spins worth the wait. Heading into the free spins bonus should be at the top of your agenda as the winning opportunities get infinitely better at this point.
Win Potential
On the subject of winning opportunities, this London Tube game offers up a max 6,000x win and a 95.7% RTP that may irk a few RTP fanatics out there. In our opinion, it's pretty fair and the medium volatility makes it more likely that you’ll see regular wins that keep your balance bolstered along the way.
Our Verdict
While we suspect that Red Tiger won't be stepping up on the stage at next year's Global Gaming Awards to pick up the ‘online slot of the year’ award for London Tube, there's still plenty to enjoy about this quirky little production. It's a fun theme with some potentially valuable modifiers and it's always nice to find a game that won't beat the hell out of your balance while you play. Try it, you might just like it!
