Lead for Lunch Review

If anything is going to activate big multipliers, then it might as well be poker chips! When they land, they can be activated and trigger the multiplier chamber, giving you a potential boost on each reel. This number gets significantly better as they all get added together!

Gameplay & Features

Regular wins are pretty easy to understand because they just need to land on one of the 14 paylines. Between 3 and 5 matching symbols will get you up to 5x, and the wild symbol substitutes for regular symbols.

When a winning combo takes place, the symbols on the bottom row are removed from the grid and everything shifts down. If a poker chip lands, it'll activate if there's a win on the grid or if the poker chip symbol could form part of a payout. When they activate, they trigger the chamber above the reel, and the 5 chambers offer rewards of between 1 and 9. The poker chip symbol will transform into a wild and the numbers in the chamber will create your total multiplier.

There is a High Roller Featurespin where only wanted posters and dead symbols will land. The wanted posters will receive a number of shots fired onto each reel, and if they hit the poster on each reel, then you get the max win.

Bonus Game

Two versions of the free spins bonus are available when 3 or 4 scatter symbols land. The most basic version will simply give you an increased chance of landing poker chip symbols, but the more advanced game will guarantee a poker chip with each spin.

You can purchase these bonus games for 80x and 200x. The high roller feature spins that we mentioned before cost 1,000x.

High Roller Featurespins

This is a fast-track way to try and hit the max payout, but it will cost you 1,000x your bet. Only wanted posters and dead symbols can land, and you want as many posters as possible to land on each reel before the shots are fired. If every wanted poster gets hit, you grab the 10,000x top win!

Free Spins

The free spins bonus comes as a standard or more advanced format, where the base game mechanics will continue throughout. The major difference from the first game is that you get a better chance of landing those poker chip symbols. If you play the super game, then one of these poker chips is guaranteed with a spin.

Win Potential

For the first time in a long time, I actually managed to hit the max win in this game! It all came courtesy of the high roller feature spins, which achieved 4 out of the 5 important shots. However, with only 4 posters getting shot, you'll get 1 more bullet to see if you can pick up the top 10,000x reward. That's exactly what happened to me, so fingers crossed you achieve the same. Understandably, the volatility is extremely high.

Design

Lead for Lunch follows a fairly familiar pattern for Wild West-themed games, with developers like Hacksaw sometimes opting for a watercolour backdrop of a one-horse town and a couple of animated/moving parts. The soundtrack is predictable, to say the least, but the general feel is slightly more gritty than you might have been expecting.

Our Verdict

Lead for Lunch surprised me in a few ways, and not least were the poker chips and multipliers that appear above the reels. I enjoy it when games give you a chance to go big or go home, so I was always going to be in favour of the High Roller Featurespins too. As I said before, I hit the max win of 10,000x, and I also saw some other exciting returns from other parts of the game.
