Diamond Discovery Review
This game is more about the prize-winning potential than it is about the production value. While the added features do create better winning possibilities, they don't add a huge amount to the storyline or the overall feel of the game.
This theme has been done a thousand times before so it was always going to be a tall order making it different from the rest. SpinPlay Games has had a good go at it but we feel like they could have gone further.
Design
If you thought that this game would present an audio-visual display that might catch you by surprise, then you'd be a little disappointed. It features all of the regular elements that we've seen many times before.
There is a less-than-inspired goldmine backdrop and the flashing diamond symbols are almost a little too futuristic for this production. The soundtrack is a simple banjo loop that you will end up switching off fairly quickly. It's not that this is a bad slot, far from it. The problem is that there is nothing different here other than a couple of nice features to really make it shine in an extremely crowded niche.
Gameplay
We might have been a little brutal on the design review but our experience of the game set-up was a little more positive. We liked the fact that it doesn't try to be overly complicated and the addition of some nice features helps keep things interesting along the way.
High volatility does mean that those features won't be triggered very often so you'll have to make do with the regular base game ticking over while you wait patiently.
Win Potential
One thing that this title does well is win potential. A massive 25,000x stake payout is available for some lucky players when everything comes together perfectly. The RTP is over what you might expect and sits at 96.47%. But be aware that this can change depending on where you play.
You won't find regular wins but when they do come, they should be pretty decent and help replenish your bankroll somewhat. Prepare your budget accordingly and don't go too hard too soon if you want to last the distance with this slot.
Our Verdict
While we might not have given this slot too much in the way of glowing praise, there is nothing to dislike about it either. We enjoyed spinning the reels for quite a while and watching the occasional features appear.
The win potential is staggering and the overall feel is quite pleasant. Diamond Discovery will certainly appeal more to those who are interested in payouts rather than production value. If you fall into that first category, then you may well find a new favourite in this SpinPlay slot.
Alyx has always loved slots and continuously follows their progress and development. She’s a big fan of gridded slots and music themes as well, so it makes sense that Def Leppard Hysteria is her absolute favourite. She can’t wait to see what’s next in the Play’n GO rock series.
