First up, let's look at the symbols. The standard letters and numbers are low-paying, as usual, with weapons worth slightly more, and our charming worm warriors paying out the most.
The number of ways to win fluctuates as this 5-reel slot can give you anywhere between 4 and 6 rows to play with. The amount of rows increases when you find Reel Unlock symbols on the ZapReel, and in the free spins feature you can even increase your rows up to a colossal 8-symbols high.

But does it live up to the hype and its odd, quirky name?
I feel like AvatarUX could have tried a lot harder with the design of this game. With such a daft and unique concept, the team could have gone all out and made this an absolute visual feast of a slot game. Instead, we have a blurred pink background that depicts some sort of stadium where our battle commences, with a small game grid in the centre and the rather underwhelming ZapReel at the top.
The worm symbols themselves are actually very fun and well-designed. However, the low-paying letters and number symbols don’t seem to have even been noticed by the design team, and they leave a lot of very dull space on the reels. Inexplicably, the ways to win are displayed on the left-hand side of the game grid on what appears to be some old, rotten wooden sign, which doesn’t match any of the other visual elements of the game.
The soundtrack is suitably ridiculous, with an upbeat tempo designed to keep you on your toes. Overall, the worm characters are the stars of the show, but they are let down by a lot of poor design throughout the rest of the game.
Generally speaking, Worms of Valor offers dynamic and fast-paced gameplay. The fact that the rows can increase in size is a great addition to this slot, and the Popscade feature will certainly keep your eyes on the reels. Your symbols disappear and get replaced with new ones every time you land a Reel Unlock symbol.
The free spins game kicks things up a notch in that you can increase the height of the rows up to 8 symbols high, but a bit of a change in design would have been nice.
Without a doubt, Worms of Valor offers plenty of ways to win. With the ability to increase your paylines, land wilds, scatters, free spins and instant cash prizes, plus the well-advertised 118,098 ways to win, the folks at AvatarUX offer you many avenues to create winning combos.

Overall, I had quite a lot of fun playing Worms of Valor. I started off a little bit disheartened by the lack of attention to some of the design elements, but the special features and fast pace of the game more than made up for it. The ZapReel and Popscade features are welcome additions, but with so many symbols and ever-changing reels, Worms of Valor might be accused of having too much going on. In the end, I think you’ll either love or hate this game. But one thing’s for sure; AvatarUX have made a pretty unique slot that people will be talking about for a long time to come.
