Wilbur's coin fever may well be enough to get you excited, but if you need a little more inspiration, then watch out for the multiplier truck – a combination of these will add multipliers to your wins and hopefully boost your balance towards the buffers at the next station.
To get this train moving, you need to select your bet amount, hit the spin button and hope for the best. The best is obviously that 10,000x max win, but the interim rewards are still quite notable. The highest symbol payouts are up to 2.50x, but they are heavily modified as the features come into play.
The multiplier track moves to the left each time a winning combo falls, and once the carts reach the bell, the global multiplier can be applied to all wins. Be aware that this resets after the round ends.
Wild symbols substitute for all regular payout symbols, and coin symbols are a completely different beast. Gold, silver and bronze coins may appear anywhere, and once you have 3 or more of them, you'll land a win. Random coins can trigger the coin fever game.
The first of your bonus games is the aforementioned coin fever, which is a respins feature, and it all begins with the 3 bottom rows covered by a fence. You need to land coins and other symbols on the active rows to reset your spins, and the pressure symbols will unlock the blocked rows.

The game's design is a strange choice and my overriding thought is that Willy Wonka has gone off in search of gold and everything feels ever so slightly camp. It's not a bad thing and if your big purple engine is happy pumping out plumes of violet smoke, then why not enjoy it? The soundtrack/main effect is upbeat and mixes well with this strange blend of flavours, plus there's an underlying steampunk feel just to confuse you even further. It looks ok on mobile phones too, and even though the animations are a little repetitive, they do help the game to keep moving at a decent pace.
All slot developers go down the Wild West route at some point, and when there's so much competition around, it's unsurprising that ELK has added its own twist in Wonder Train. It's perhaps not one I would have predicted, but somehow it seems to work. The coin game and bonus features are essential if you want to land any big wins but the multiplier meter can also deliver something surprising every so often.
