Survivor Megaways
Survivor Megawys is a 6-reel, 100,842 ways to win Megaways slot developed by Big Time Gaming that's based on the hit US reality TV series that sees contestants marooned on an island, where they must provide food, water, fire, and shelter for themselves whilst competing in challenges for rewards and immunity from elimination.
This strangely designed slot has reels that are split into three sections. Both the upper and lower sections of the reels play host to a maximum of 18 symbols, whilst the middle reel can accommodate for 5 symbols that spin horizontally as opposed to vertically. The top and bottom section of the reels are also subject to increasing multipliers at times. When spinning the reels of Survivor Megaways there's always between 486 and 100,832 ways to win in play.
In terms of bonus features and mechanics, this game boasts reactions, increasing wild multipliers and free spins that can all come together beautifully to award lucky players with a maximum win of 44,000x their stake, which is absolutely HUGE!
Design
It comes as no surprise that this game looks quite as good as it does, Big Time Gaming are pretty reliable when it comes to creating unique, visually pleasing slots. The reels are set across three levels of a crudely built hut that's sat on the beach of a beautiful tropical island. Behind the hut is a collection of palm trees that gentle sway in the breeze, it's all very idyllic.
Low paying symbols are the standard 9, 10, J, Q, K, A that you see in all Big Time Gaming slots, whilst the high paying symbols are green, blue, red and purple Tiki masks. There are also large, medium and small urn symbols. When these come into play they smash and increase the multipliers on the top and bottom row of game symbols.
In terms of sound, this game is absolutely brilliant. We actually found ourselves taking a minute to stop and listen to the ambient sounds Big Time Gaming had placed into this slot, as it was genuinely so relaxing. When the reels are actually spinning a dramatic drumbeat kicks in that really ups to the tempo of the gameplay.
Gameplay
We won't beat around the bush, Survivor Megaways is a bit weird.... But as you're most likely aware Big Time Gaming are no strangers to finding innovative ways to lay out their slot games, just look at 2020 releases Star Clusters and Chocolates for example.
As mentioned, the game reels are split up into three individual rows, each spinning separately from the other. The top and bottom rows spin vertically (as a normal slot would) and can accommodate up to 3 symbols in one space, whilst the middle row spins horizontally and can only see five symbols land at any given time.
To the left of the top two game rows are boxes featuring flaming multipliers that sit static at x1 until the urn symbols come into play, there's one box for the red women's team and one box for the blue men's team.
All of the important game buttons can be found on the right-hand side of the reels, organised in classic Big Time Gaming Fashion. From the bottom up there's a large play button, a hamburger menu for game settings and the paytable, an autospin button that allows players to set up to 100 automated spins and stake selection buttons that range from 0.20 to 10.
Win Potential
Medium volatility slot Survivor Megaways has a slightly below-average RTP of 95.47% but a genuinely impressive maximum win potential of 44,000x the players' initial stake, which we're feeling pretty excited about!
Our Verdict
Survivor Megaways is a strange slot in the fact that it has 100,832 ways to win as opposed to the standard 117,649, but don't let that put you off! This branded slot boasts a great win potential and some excellent bonus features and mechanics that genuinely offer something not many other slots do, and for that reason, we give it a big thumbs up!
