Shark Wash Review
It is an odd concept by any stretch of the imagination and a Shark Wash certainly wasn't something we expected to be reviewing in the context of a video slot! Relax Gaming has taken it upon itself to dive to the bottom of this watery abyss and present us with 5 reels of shark scrubbing fun. There are no rules in this uncharted territory so the developer could take this in just about any direction it wants.
Design
We were expecting to see sharks queuing outside and waiting patiently for their turn to pop in and spruce themselves up a little—not an unreasonable request given the name of the game. However, apart from the shark symbols presented on the reels, we didn't get to meet any toothy customers at all.
The Shark Wash is a bright and colourful place but the design team didn't exactly let their imaginations run wild. The sound effects and backing track are lively and in keeping with the theme and are probably our favourite thing about the whole design setup.
Game Play
It felt like we waited for an eternity for a wild symbol to turn up and when it did we were excited to see what prevailing multiplier action might ensue. Unfortunately, you need a lot of these to continue hitting the reels throughout a cascading sequence to make it happen. Obviously, it will fall into place for some lucky players but as far as modifiers go, this feels a little too elusive for our liking.
This all changes during the free spins bonus and you get to see how powerful these multipliers can be. It's just a shame you have more chance of seeing a great white having its tail fin buffed than triggering a multiplier when you’re not in the bonus area.
Win Potential
The max 5,000x payout will certainly only arrive during the free spins bonus and it will take a few trips to the boss' office where this all happens if you are going to get anywhere near that figure. The RTP is perfectly fine at 96.06% but the extremely high volatility doesn't really hit the mark for a game like this.
Our Verdict
Underwater adventures are 10 a penny in the slots realm and some of them really stand out from the crowd. Shark Wash isn't one of those but it’s certainly not the worst by any means. It's a fun concept and like any other game, if you pick it up at the right time, you could have a blast.
Paul spent plenty of time in arcades up and down the UK discovering all of the best fruit machines and watching them grow into the incredible online slots we see today. He still loves the basic format but also has a soft spot for games with big bonus rounds that progress as you play. Immortal Romance is one of his favourite slots of all time.
