Ronin Stackways Review
Hacksaw Gaming is pretty proud of its Stackways feature and rightly so. Barely 5 minutes have passed since Mayan Stackways was unleashed on our screens and now this feature is back for another outing. Could this be the start of something special? It's got a long way to go before it can challenge the likes of Megaways, but it’s not out of the question.
Design
Mesoamerica has been exchanged for the Orient as this feature series progresses. Instead of people, we are confronted by strange animal spirits who are presumably the connection to the wandering ninjas, or ronins. And while spirits aren't generally seen as a light-hearted affair, this game has a much more tranquil ambience than its predecessor.
The reels are set into a traditional wooden frame with all of the ornate extras that you could possibly hope for and the background consists of a beautiful mountain scene with waterfalls and dimly lit lanterns catching your eye.
If you are a slot fan who likes to access the action while out and about, then don't forget to check out this game on your mobile device as well. You can experience it all in its glory—just on a slightly smaller scale.
Game Play
Who needs a bonus game when you have Stackways symbols? You never know what you're going to get when each spin could produce up to 10 stacked symbols—this is enough to keep most slots fans happy.
Some players may be able to take advantage of the Buy Bonus to head directly to the main bonus rounds, but this won't be possible in the UK. There’s the Bonus Hunt selection where each spin is 5 times more likely to trigger a bonus game plus various other options with even the Super Stack Spins sitting there on the shelf waiting to be purchased. This main event will set you back 200x your bet.
Win Potential
While the features in this game produce medium and high volatility settings, the overall gameplay enjoys low-medium volatility. This means that you will see plenty of regular wins of a lower value and hopefully, your bankroll will thank you for selecting a game like this. Wins will arrive every three spins or so and this is a very decent hit frequency to keep you captivated for the duration. The max win stands at 10,000x and the RTP may differ from place to place with the maximum being 96.35%.
Our Verdict
Just because this game shares the Stackways feature with Mayan Stackways, you can't compare the two as equal slots. The number of features is completely different and the volatility levels are miles apart. So what do you do in a situation like this? You play them both, of course! You won't be disappointed.
Paul spent plenty of time in arcades up and down the UK discovering all of the best fruit machines and watching them grow into the incredible online slots we see today. He still loves the basic format but also has a soft spot for games with big bonus rounds that progress as you play. Immortal Romance is one of his favourite slots of all time.
