Monster Blox Review
It's that time of year where all the monsters come out to play, but they are causing trouble for all the poor humans - so it's up to you and a group of heroes to defeat these monsters and send them back. Developed by Peter & Sons, Monster Blox plays on 6-reels with 40 paylines in this high volatility slot.
Don't worry about a reward, as you'll be rewarded handsomely if you manage to rid the village of this invention (but they seem to be never-ending). You'll have support from free spins, respins and the wild bounty - so step up and see if you have what it takes to be a hero.
Design
This slot definitely catches your eye as a Peter & Sons slot with the art style. It's quirky in terms of design with the character styles but is familiar to those who have played their other slots. As the slot opens, there's a kingdom in the background with the reels at the forefront. It's a pastel coloured background with a shed centred at the front.
This shed contains all the monsters in the area and you must defeat them alongside the Wizard. You can find the Wizard to the right of the screen with a gun that shoots at random times. He looks creepy but harmless so you'll have nothing to fear with him.
In terms of the monsters, they all look adorable on the reels with each of them being unique with certain colour palettes and designs. For example, there's a 'nature monster' that has a green colour scheme and is covered in leaves giving it a personality in a sense.
There is definitely a high-intensity theme playing throughout the slots with a drumbeat that gets even more intense through free spins. This combined with the background turning to night definitely turns the slot into a more sinister one throughout this feature.
Gameplay
As the slot opens, you'll see that there are 6-reels with 40 paylines making it quite simple. However, when you land a win, the reels expand with the respin feature which increases the paylines to 15 each time. This isn't too complicated and you don't even have to do anything additionally.
In terms of the interface, all the menus are at the bottom of the screen with the spin button to the far right. The autospin and bet level are just underneath the spin button at the bottom of the screen. Further menus, such as sound or paytable, can be found on the left side of the screen.
Win Potential
Monster Blox is a high volatility slot, so you can expect less frequent wins. When you do win, they should be a lot higher than average. On top of the high volatility, this slot has an RTP of 96.06% which is just over the average standard.
As for the maximum win, you can win up to 7,400x your stake on this slot but that is throughout the free spins round with the multipliers. It took us quite a while to trigger the free spins, but we gained decent wins through the respin feature which triggered fairly often as well as the wild bounty one.
Our Verdict
It's clear what you are going to get with a Peter & Sons slot, and it's going to be something that's thoroughly entertaining to play combined with a slot that just looks brilliant. Throughout our playthrough, we had no real issues with anything in this slot and loved every minute of it.
The only issue we had was triggering the free spins, but the other features compensated to make the game enjoyable. If you love superb slots with originality, then Monster Blox is one not to miss.
