I’ve never reviewed a mole-themed game before, so I’m quite excited to see what’s on offer here. Moleionaire is a cluster pays slot that uses tumbling symbols. It also comes with the unusual ‘Cluster Reaction’ feature, which I haven’t seen before, so I’m even more interested to see what this Farmville-looking game is about.
As a cluster pays slot, Moleionaire doesn’t have a set number of paylines. Instead, you need to match at least 5 symbols horizontally and/or vertically to create a winning combo.
There are 8 regular symbols made up of typical farmland imagery, including various vegetables, a butterfly and a pine cone. There’s also a wild and free spins symbol.
As well as the cluster pays mechanic, Moleionaire also uses the popular tumbling reels feature. So when you make a winning combination, the symbols from that combo disappear and new ones tumble into their place. This means you can potentially land more wins during the same spin.
Interestingly, Moleionaire also has a ‘Cluster Reaction’. With each spin, before any tumbles, 2 symbols pop up in the mole's thought bubble. If these same symbols are also on the reels and are adjacent to each other at the end of a spin, they transform into wilds.
At random, when transforming, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 wilds can appear in the same spot. Then, the amount of wilds gets added to the symbol count for the winning combinations they are part of. This is quite a cool addition that I’d never seen before, and it makes the base game a little more dynamic.
To get into the free spins round, you need to find at least 4 scatter symbols. Matching 4, 5, 6 or 7 scatters will see you enter the round with 8, 10, 12, or 14 spins, respectively. An extra feature that appears is that symbols can randomly transform into two wilds in the same position, which is a nice added touch.
It took me quite some time to get to the free spins game, but I eventually landed 5 scatters which gave me 10 spins to play with. The round is very similar to the base game, and although I did win a little extra pocket money, it wasn’t worth the long wait to get there.
There’s a buy-in option for those living outside the UK, but it will cost you 90x your bet, and the amount of spins you get is random. Personally, even if I had the option, I wouldn’t bother buying my way into this round!

Moleionaire is a highly volatile slot with an RTP of 96.08%, which is slightly above average. The max win is 5,000x, so there’s definitely some potential here for large prizes. However, my personal experience wasn’t exactly filled with riches! I played for a long time before getting into the free spins game and was disappointed that the ‘special reels’ promised by Pragmatic were nowhere to be seen. That said, the transforming wilds and Cluster Reaction feature are pretty cool, and could very well be the key to landing some decent wins.
This slot very much falls into the ‘cute’ category for me. If you’re old enough to remember Farmville, then shove a mole into the game and you’ve got Moleionaire. The animations are fun, colourful and vibrant, and the soundtrack is a jovial little ditty that keeps the atmosphere light and carefree.
The symbols are nicely crafted, and the design team has done a good job of making vegetables look as exciting as possible. The mole character is a sweet little thing who reminds me of the Monopoly man, with this hat and monocle. All in all, this is a good-looking and quirky slot game from Pragmatic.
I enjoyed my session playing Moleionaire! The cluster pays mechanic is a nice way to mix things up from the usual set reels and the Cluster Reaction feature is a great added touch. I would have liked it if the free spins round had differed a little more from the base game, but the transforming wilds helped it feel a bit more unique.
