Gonzo's Gold Review
Everyone's favourite Conquistador is back in a whole new adventure taking him deep within an Inca temple. Developed by NetEnt, Gonzo's Gold is a Cluster Pays slot that plays on a 5x5 and matches up symbols instead of lining them up on a traditional payline.
This high volatility slot features a maximum win of 6,500x your stake along with free spins and expanding symbols. Join in Gonzo's latest quest in Gonzo's Gold.
Design
As you open the slot, you'll notice an Inca temple surrounded by golden looking pillars with the reels in the centre of the screen. Sadly, the background is entirely static that there isn't a lot going on.
Unfortunately, Gonzo is not even next to the reels and he is just stood there as a traditional symbol. It's extremely disappointing and feels lacking in terms of design.
Thankfully, the music is fitting to transport you to an Inca temple but there is no commentary from Gonzo which is a huge let-down.
Gameplay
Gonzo's Gold plays on a grid of 5x5, this slot uses the Cluster Pays mechanic to match up symbols. Aside from that, you have free spins and that's about it.
All of the menus can be found at the bottom with the spin button, bet level and autospin in the middle. Further to the left, you'll find additional menus for whatever you may need.
Win Potential
This slot has a solid RTP of 96.11% which is just over the average standard. It also contains high volatility gameplay which means that you can expect less frequent wins, but larger amounts when you do win.
As for the maximum win, you can win up to 6,500x your stake through the free spins but that's about it. It's still bigger than Gonzo's Quest but not as big as Gonzo's Quest Megaways.
Our Verdict
We'd be lying if we said we weren't disappointed with this slot as Gonzo's Quest is an amazing series with a beloved character - but this feels like a cheap copy of the series.
There is no Gonzo next to the reels and barely any life in this slot. The Cluster Pays mechanic and the core gameplay is acceptable but doesn't hold up to the Gonzo high standards. If you love the series, then definitely give it a spin but keep your expectations low when you do.
