Admittedly, the main Bonus game is the reason why I'm excited to play Deal or No Deal The Big Hit Megaways and I imagine you are feeling much the same. However, there is the small matter of a Base game to deal with first and this is enhanced by the Megaways mechanic. There are six main reels plus a 7th that runs horizontally along the top. All of this means that you could see up to 117,649 win ways while playing.
Regular symbols include 6 royals, a mug, wax seal, envelope and the Deal or No Deal icon. The latter is the biggest payer with six-of-a-kind producing a 50x win.
You can also enjoy Wild symbols that will substitute for all others except for the Scatters and other Wilds, plus a Bonus symbol that only turns up during the Free Spins game. Its purpose here is to award extra spins.
To the left of the reels is the Bonus Trail and the eagle-eyed among you will notice that positions 4 and 8 always remain the same. This is the entry to the Deal or No Deal game and a cash prize, respectively.
You make your way up the Bonus Trail by landing winning sequences and it resets when you don't receive another win. You can get Multipliers and other ways to enhance your Bonus game when they arrive.
Reaching position four, produces the Deal or No Deal Bonus, as you know. You are now offered the chance to select a numbered box and this remains yours throughout. I imagine you are probably familiar with the format but just to reiterate, you will select a few boxes and then the Banker offers you a prize. It's up to you if you take it or you can continue to the end and see what is in your box. It could win a cash prize or a number of free spins.
During the free spins, the Bonus Trail is replaced with a progressive Multiplier Trail and this could help to enhance your wins as you go.
Every winning sequence takes you further up the trail and resets when no win arrives. The 4th place is reserved for entry to the Deal or No Deal game and 8th place pays a cash prize. Other rewards are selected randomly.
Pick your number and off you go! Keep selecting boxes to see if the Banker will offer cash or spins. Will you take the offer or do you, like Brad Pitt, want to know what’s in the box?
The Bonus Trail now turns into a Multiplier Trail and each winning sequence moves you higher up the Multiplier values. Bonus symbols can bring you more free spins while you play.
The size of this progressive prize will depend on where you play. The chance to play for big bucks will trigger randomly and multi-million-pound payouts can occur.
Not much has changed in the last 4 years since Deal or No Deal Megaways was released, apart from the Bonus Trail, which perhaps better enhances the main Bonus feature—depending on how you look at it. It’s up to you how you’d like to modify this part of the game, so try them both out and see what you think!
You’ll get an ever-so-slightly familiar feel from the soundtrack that isn’t quite right but you’ll get what the developer was aiming for—presumably without shelling out for the extra rights! The classic studio setting does feel a little more crisp and defined, so that’s something to look forward to.
The gameplay hasn’t moved on much from the original and you’re still on the hunt for winning cascades to produce more symbols and take you further up the bonus trail, but the real action is and always has been in the Bonus game. If you’re a fan of the show like me, you’re going to love taking part.
You could see 50,000x appearing as part of the standard game offering, but this is obviously enhanced by the Jackpot King addition—it’s been known to reach into the millions on occasion. The RTP suffers a little as a result and sits at 92.50%, while the volatility is medium.
Personally, I’m a fan of gameshow slots like Deal or No Deal The Big Hit Megaways but the Megaways mechanic feels a little surplus to requirements as I’m only really interested in the Bonus game. It’s what most will come for, but having the added Base game action is never a bad thing.
