Anyone familiar with Cash Falls Pirate’s Trove will know exactly what to expect from this game. But Light & Wonder hasn’t exactly gone all out to vary what’s on offer and this may or may not please some fans.
I loved the Cash Falls feature the first time around and remember wishing for just a little bit more from the free spins game. Funnily enough, I have the same feeling this time too.
The main event is the eponymous bonus game that can produce some cracking wins when allowed to do so. It's all about those Oriental-looking coins that can land on any of the reels and increase in value the further along they go. On the first two reels, the possible values are 0.5 x to 10x. On reels 3 and 4, it could be 0.5 x to 20x and the fifth reel sees values of 1x up to 20x.
You might also see the jackpot names appearing on these coins as well. On reels 1 and 2 you could land the Mini jackpot, reels 3 & 4 could see the Mini or Minor jackpots and reel number 5 can produce both of the above plus the Major and Mega jackpots.
To land the values on these coins, you’ll need the entire reel to fill up with Cash Falls multipliers or jackpot amounts. They stick on the screen for 3 spins but if another one turns up on the same reel, then the number of spins is renewed. Once 3 spins have gone by without landing a multiplier or jackpot, the reel goes back to normal.
You’ll need at least 3 Scatter symbols to turn up and trigger this feature. 3, 4 or 5 of them will award 10, 12 or 15 free spins respectively. Again, different multiplier amounts and jackpots can appear on the reels, but now they stick in place for the duration of the bonus.
There is an added benefit here of completing an entire reel—you get an additional multiplier value. It’s not obligatory though and you will still take home all of the Cash Falls values at the end of the bonus.
You might also want to keep an eye open for the Wild symbols that can substitute for all others except for Scatters and these will only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. You may also be able to enjoy the Buy Pass at a cost of 65x to take you directly to the free spins game—outside the UK only.
Reminiscent of a respin bonus, the Cash Falls symbols land on each reel and reset the meter to 3 lives. Fill an entire reel with these symbols and you collect the combined values.

Despite my initial lack of excitement for the standard features that haven't changed since Cash Falls Pirate’s Trove, there’s still a lot to like here.
The original is a casino floor favourite that many slots fans ‘stateside’ love to seek out in some of America's most notorious locations. It remains to be seen if Cash Falls Outback Fortune will rival Pirate’s Trove popularity.
Personally, the design is a little all over the place with no real grasp on the concept. There are some nice vibrant colours but the lack of music during the base game doesn't help lift your spirits if you find yourself on a bad run of spins. It all changes as you enter the free spins bonus and some weird Caribbean soundtrack accompanies your bonus plays.
The Cash Falls feature is really what holds everything together but it does stop the free spins bonus from having any identity. Free spins are just an extension of the rest of the game and once again, this might put some players off. I don't mind as there's always a chance of seeing a big value multiplier as those Cash Falls symbols complete the reels. Allowing them to stick around in the bonus game and have potential multipliers added as well is a fantastic touch.
The stats are pretty attractive in Cash Falls Outback Fortune with a medium volatility setting and 4,608 ways to win a prize with every spin. The RTP sits just below 96% and when you consider that there are 4 jackpots on offer, that isn't bad at all. Finally, the maximum win potential is 21,025x.
Cash Falls Outback Fortune, much like its predecessor, is going to be fairly divisive when it hits our screens. Some players will simply love the payout potential but others won't enjoy the lack of inspiration that seems to have befallen the design team.
Slight grievances aside, there’s still a lot of action to see thanks to the Cash Falls coins and players have a top chance of landing some superb prizes along the way.
