Book of Fallen Review
Within the iGaming world, John Hunter is a legend with his own unique adventure series titled John Hunter. He's been searching for Aztec Treasure, in the tomb of the Scarab Queen, finding the Book of Tut and searching for Bermuda Riches. In his next adventure, he's going back to ancient Egypt to search for the Book of Fallen.
Developed by Pragmatic Play, Book of Fallen is another 'Book of slot' that follows a simplistic format of 5-reels with 10 paylines and only contains one main feature which is the free spins round. This high volatility slot is ideal for players who just want to stick to the basics whilst retaining stunning graphics. If you love John Hunter, then you definitely don't want to miss out on this instalment.
Design
You'll be greeted by typical Egyptian designs with a golden tomb filled with hieroglyphics on the wall. That's not to say that it doesn't look amazing, but it's nothing we haven't seen before. On the reels, you'll notice a rugged-looking John Hunter along with the 'Book of Fallen', Anubis and an Egyptian pharaoh.
The minute you hit free spins, you'll be taken to a glorious tomb adorned with various treasures. Sadly, it just looks like the base game setting but with a colour change.
As for the music, it's pretty typical for this type of slot with drum beats mixed with an orchestra to create something exciting. It doesn't do anything original but it fits in perfectly with the tone of the slot.
Gameplay
There's no denying that the gameplay on this slot is straightforward with only 5-reels with 10 paylines making it ideal for newcomers or playing who prefer simplistic slots. There is only one feature in the form of free spins which is quite rewarding once it's triggered.
To the right of the reels, you'll find the spin button with the bet level. If you need any additional help, you'll find the 'i' button just to the far left.
Win Potential
The win potential for this slot is pretty standard with the RTP at a solid 96.50% and features high volatility. Ultimately, high volatility means that you'll receive higher payouts but less often.
In terms of a maximum win, you'll find this slot capped at 5,000x your stake meaning that you can't go any higher. Throughout our gameplay, we found free spins hard to trigger but extremely rewarding once it did.
Our Verdict
This is definitely not the best John Hunter slot so far, but it's not going for that. Book of Fallen is intended to be a 'Book of slot' that entertains players who prefer simple gameplay or be the perfect starting point for newcomers.
The only thing we wish this slot had was perhaps an additional feature such as multipliers or a respin feature. However, don't let this put you off - if you love straightforward slots without the extra hassle, then Book of Fallen is one not to miss.
