5 Monsters Features
We are not going to lie, we sat staring blankly at these game instructions for a good 10 minutes before snapping out of the trance. It read like a complicated board game that could easily tear families apart, but when it finally sank in, we had our eureka moment and realised that this game has a hell of a lot of potential.
Max Symbols & Progress Bar
There are various winning symbols in play, but this is hardly front-page news. What is important to note is that the 3 low-paying symbols, triangle square and circle, do nothing more than pay you regular wins. The other high-paying symbols are a completely different beast altogether.
To land a win of any symbol type, you need to collect 7 of them anywhere on the grid in one spin. However, if they are one of the high-paying symbols, then the respective symbol lights up in the meter above the reels—these are known as Max Symbols. Another spin takes place and if any symbols land that match the activated and corresponding symbol above, they begin to add to the progress bar.
And this is part of the beauty of this game. The progress bar will remain intact for as long as you continue your session, so in theory, the longer you play, the better the rewards should be eventually. However, that isn't an invitation to spend all day ploughing money into a slot machine and you must stick to your budget.
You're probably wondering now what exactly these rewards are when you complete the progress bar. Each time you complete the progress bar, a monster is unlocked and this can happen up to 5 times, hence the name 5 Monsters!
These monsters correspond to different levels in the game and after unlocking each one, you get to take the Collector Bonus game out for a test drive.
Don't forget that random symbols may appear at any point to add additional Max Symbols and help you along your way.
Collector Bonus
This is where we start getting down to the business end of proceedings and see how big cash prizes are possible in this game.
It is essentially a respin bonus game but there's a lot more to this than meets the eye.
You are probably familiar with the format and know that your re-spins are replenished when special symbols land and a run of 3 spins without hitting a special symbol means you leave the bonus.
There are 2 types of special bonus symbols that you are looking out for during the re-spins; these are the Multiplier Symbols and Activator Symbols. Multiplier Symbols leave a value of between 2x and 5x where they land and the Activator Symbols will light a fire under 1 of the monsters and inspire them to hit the grid with some special powers.
The Framer adds frames to random positions and Multiplier Symbols that land on a frame are multiplied by that frame value
The Payer takes one of the multiplier values and adds it to all of the other Multiplier Symbols
The Booster simply boosts the value of one of the Multiplier Symbols
The Collector collects all of the multiplier values and adds them together in the activating space
The Mentalist will multiply the lowest and highest multiplier values together
