WowPot pays out biggest ever jackpot of €38,400,000!
Back in early 2023, we reported how the WowPot Mega Jackpot reached a record-breaking size.
Players waited with bated breath as it continued to grow over the course of the year, until, on 20th December, one lucky player landed it, taking home the mind-boggling sum of €38,461,200.95.
WowPot background
In 2020, the WowPot Jackpot was unveiled, first available to play on Wheel of Wishes, a slot created by Alchemy Gaming, who develop titles exclusively for Games Global.
That big December win may have been a record-breaker, but it was by no means the first biggie. 2021 saw one player win the Book of Atem WowPot Jackpot, taking home €17.5 million. In total, the top-tier prize has now been won three times.
Many will be familiar with Mega Moolah, another progressive Games Global jackpot taken over from Microgaming after the acquisition of the distribution business and games portfolio in 2022. This prize originally began in 2006 and has just lost the record to WowPot, having previously paid out a €19.4 million jackpot in 2021.
Furthermore, this record isn’t just theoretical; it’s verified by Guinness World Records, who will likely be updating their records soon.
How WowPot works
WowPot is a high-value, four-tier progressive jackpot, which is run alongside Mega Moolah on the Games Global network. It is, to a large extent, made up of games created by Microgaming’s various development studios. Since its release, WowPot has continued to add more and more of these titles to its impressive portfolio.
The top-tier WowPot seeding value is a generous €2 million, and this sum grows with every spin on a WowPot title. With such a valuable baseline, it’s no surprise that players are drawn to these games in their droves.
In just a couple of years, WowPot has paid out more than €65 million in prizes. There are also plenty of smaller wins when you factor in all the games and tiers. On average, prizes were awarded every 15 seconds through 2023.

Four WowPot tiers
The WowPot jackpot system has four tiers (Mini, Minor, Major, and Mega), meaning players have multiple chances of an instant win.
All players need to do is be in the right place at the right time, and they’ll trigger a bonus feature, which then determines which of the four tiers they land on.
The biggest wins, of course, come from the top tier, but the others are lucrative too, particularly because of the frequency with which they pay out.
Whilst the top prize may only be paid out every couple of years, the Major Jackpot is won every few weeks and has paid out 58 times since WowPot was launched. This one seeds at €100k, and players have won seven-figure sums from it in the past.
Even the Minor tier jackpot, with its €50k seed, and the Mini jackpot, which starts at €10k, illustrate that the lower tiers can pay out a pretty tidy sum as well.
The future of WowPot
This heavily-publicised win is likely to bring additional attention to Games Global, particularly when it comes to progressive jackpots. Now, it looks like WowPot is due to continue leading the way in this field, breaking more records by awarding massive single wins, but also huge numbers of smaller wins.
Alchemy Gaming’s Head of Studio reflected on their original vision following the record-breaking win.
"When we debuted Wheel of Wishes back in 2020, little did we know the incredible impact its central progressive jackpot would have. [...] A truly historic day for the Alchemy team, for our partners at Games Global, and in the wider industry."
Similarly, commenting on this historical payout, a spokesperson from Games Global expressed how eager the team is to do it all over again.
"Now that it has been won, our job is to reset it and go again, hopefully making another record-breaking jackpot in the process!"
Fancy your chances?
Now with a reputation as the world's highest-paying online progressive jackpot, it’s no surprise that the WowPot value is surging back upwards.
In fact, at the time of writing, it was already fast approaching the €10 million mark, despite having only been re-seeded a couple of weeks ago.
There are plenty of cases of huge sums being won from small bets, including the player who won more than £350k from a 20p spin at MrQ. Statistically speaking though, your chances of hitting a progressive jackpot like this one are best when playing with a higher per-spin stake value.
Whatever your per-spin stake is, remember to keep an eye on your bankroll and not to overspend; it’s easy to lose track when you’ve got that huge jackpot in your sights. Here’s where you can find some of the best WowPot slots and sites with some great bonuses to enjoy too.
