Pragmatic Play donates €100,000 to the Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal
The money will go towards aiding those affected
On the 6th of February 2023, an earthquake struck southern and central Turkey as well as northern and western Syria. It was a 7.8-magnitude earthquake which was followed by a 7.7-magnitude earthquake just nine hours later.
This horrific event caused widespread damage with tens of thousands of fatalities. The Turkey Red Crescent launched a crisis response across the affected area mobilising staff and volunteers to assist with rescue efforts providing blankets, tents and emergency kitchens.
Pragmatic Play, one of the biggest iGaming companies out there with online slots and bingo, decided to donate €100,000 to the British Red Cross (Gibraltar) in support of the Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal by the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) which contains organisations such as the British Red Cross.
Over 45,000 casualties
At the time of writing more than 45,000 people are estimated to have died with a further 100,000 injured in this earthquake. There are further reports that 5 million people in the country are at risk or have been affected by these earthquakes.
The donation from Pragmatic Play will go towards continuing these aid efforts through the provision of emergency medical treatment, shelter, food, winter kits and warm blankets. Pragmatic Play continues to set a high standard for the iGaming industry with countless charitable donations with this disaster - just like the company did with the Ukraine Appeal.
