Why are The Goonies slots just so successful?

The Goonies is far from the only branded slot series around, but it is certainly one of the most loved. What is it that this series manages to get right where others miss the mark?

What’s the point in getting the rights to a film if you don’t make use of them!? The Goonies slots are a total nostalgia fest, packed with actual scenes from the films as well as in-jokes, character catchphrases and references to the story throughout. 

Packing in all the good stuff from the film has meant that these slots instantly won in the eyes of any true Goonies fan.

Cohesive but crazy

2018 – The Goonies (original). The original Goonies slot comes to life in the bonus round, where the win potential skyrockets from 500x the bet to 50,000x! But, for many, it’s the cut scenes, references, and Goonies-themed features that make the original a slot they can return to again and again.

2021 – The Goonies Return. For the sequel, Blueprint focused on making the base game super rewarding. They kept the big max win, but added in a golden and red key, alongside the regular one to make those feature hits even more exciting.

2023 – The Goonies Hey You Guys. With that monster max win of 50,000x the bet, this is one of our favourites in the series. Relying on a solid cash collect feature rather than a mash-up of competing ones makes this slot a great entry point to the series.

2024 – The Goonies Megaways. The Blueprint team were on a Megaways hype at this stage, so there was no surprise to see The Goonies get a Megaways update! This one has a variable RTP, so look for sites with the highest option of 95%.
