Tons of Suns Review
At first glance, Tons of Suns is yet another Aztec-inspired, temple-raiding adventure game to throw on the pile. However, the sixth instalment from the relatively new slot developer High Limit Studio seems to have a few unusual added features that could make this stand out from the crowd.
So, will we have tons of fun with Tons of Suns, or will this just be another yawn before dawn?
Let’s find out.
Truth be told, Tons of Suns is not going to win any prizes for innovative design. While vibrant and colourful, the graphics and animations in this game look a little basic—everything is a bit generic and there's no definite location. The 5x3 game board sits on what appears to be a brick background (the most exciting of all materials), with a golden temple protruding from some greenery in the near distance. The non-descript feel continues with the audio as tribal drums and a pan flute battle it out for your attention.
After a few minutes in the base game, I started to enjoy myself and if you can forgive the incredibly average graphics and dull soundtrack, you'll be surprised by how much fun you can have on this 5x3 grid. With 243 paylines, this game has the potential to be a lot more generous than many others with this setup. But what makes this game truly stand out is the wealth of added extras to take advantage of. Wilds, scatters, free spins, boosts and moving pyramids are just some of the fun extras you’ll find, and it only takes one Sun symbol to activate the game’s signature feature. All in all, Tons of Suns offers a fast-paced and dynamic gaming experience.
With 243 ways to win, 4 fixed jackpots, jackpot boosts and a total max payout of 4556x your stake, Tons of Suns certainly appears to have the goods. And with so many bonus features added to help you along your way, this new release could certainly put a few quid in your back pocket. This game is highly volatile and, the highest RTP you can hope for is 96.01%.
I have mixed feelings about Tons of Suns. On the one hand, I wanted more of a storyline and better visuals, but on the other, it's great to see a new studio jam-packing their new releases with lots of fun bonus features and chances to win.
