Tiger's Ice Review
The white tiger is known for being elusive – it’s apparently been decades since one’s been spotted in the wild – but does that mean this slot deserves to be left out in the cold too?
Always on a mission to track down the latest and greatest slots, we set out to play Tiger’s Ice and report back on our findings!
Design
Some animal-themed slots focus on the gaming mechanics at the expense of the overall game design, but that’s not something we can accuse Alchemy Gaming of doing here.
There’s a perfect combination of thrilling slot elements, including the huge Bonus Wheel spinning away in the background, but perfectly merged with the subject matter – you can practically feel the frost, even with the central heating turned up to full!
Unlike so many other games, Tiger’s Ice is accompanied by a genuinely pleasant soundtrack too. It rises and falls along with gameplay, making this an extremely immersive and entertaining game to play.
Gameplay
There seems to be a lot going on when you start playing Tiger’s Ice, so it might be a good idea to take it for a few demo spins, at least until you’ve had the chance to explore the various features and mechanics.
Rolling Reels are always popular with slots players, although they’re also referred to as Tumbling Reels, Cascading Reels or Avalanche Reels. Whatever name they’re given, they present you with additional chances to land extra wins from one paid-for spin – and who wouldn’t want that?
Alchemy has also included its Echo Roll mechanic, which guarantees a win from new symbols landing on the grid. During the free spins bonus round you can even pay to have low-value symbols removed from the feature – or how about only enabling Wilds as replacement symbols?
Either option is possible thanks to the Upsizer™ feature, which allows you to pay for extra modifiers during the free spins bonus round. However, this is not available to UK players as it counts as a bonus buy.
Free Spins
Landing three tiger’s eye Scatters activates the free spins bonus, giving you 8 free spins, plus two extra free spins for every additional Scatter. And if you spin up any more Scatters during the bonus, each one adds one more free spin to your total.
But before your free spins commence, you’ll spin the Bonus Wheel, which can award extra spins or increase the Win Multiplier increments up to 3x. The Bonus Wheel can also remove low-paying icons from the Echo Roll modifier, or limit them to Wilds – which can create some huge wins!
Win Potential
We were particularly taken with the maximum win potential of Tiger’s Ice, which comes in at an impressive 20,000x stake. Once again, we recommend playing a few spins in demo mode to see how frequently the bonus features land, so you can calculate the best way to divide up your bankroll for optimum entertainment.
In some jurisdictions, although the UK isn’t one of them, it’s possible to Buy the Bonus for the stated sum. You’ll still receive your spin of the Bonus Wheel, plus the chance to purchase extra modifiers -but that won’t guarantee any winnings will cover the cost, so approach this option with caution!
Our Verdict
If you thought animal-themed games couldn’t be both attractive and potentially rewarding, then you need to take a look at Tiger’s Ice. Not only does it look and sound great, but it delivers some truly thrilling game mechanics too.
The top win of 20,000x the bet is bound to attract the attention of high rollers, but we think just about everyone will enjoy a few spins of this stunning game.
