The Lioness Review
In 2008, Amanda Nunes made her MMA debut and has since risen to the top of the MMA world. Throughout her career, she has gained the nickname of 'The Lioness' due to her outstanding 13-1 record since making her debut.
She has made it known that she is the world's most skilled female MMA fighter with heavy ambitions who does not show weakness in any of her matches. Armadillo Studios aimed to capture her likeness and spirit in the branded slot The Lioness.
Design
As expected for a slot about a fighter, it all begins in the ring. There are flashing cameras surrounding the cage as well as thousands of people getting ready to cheer. On the reels, is where the player will find the Lioness herself.
There are three symbols with Amanda Nunes. The first is her gearing up for a fight, the second is her ready to pounce and the third is her preparing to silence her victim. They are cartoon-styled drawings but do animate to a real clip when lined up in a win.
All the other symbols relate to MMA with gloves and a punching bag. In terms of the audio, there is a hip-hop track played throughout with ambient rapping which fits the ferociousness of the slot. However, we were disappointed that there was a lack of audio from Amanda herself.
Gameplay
As the game opens up, players will find multiple bonus rounds throughout the experience. From free spins to respins, the slot is bursting with enticing gameplay that is guaranteed to deliver entertaining moments.
On the right side of the screen, there is the spin button as well as the bet level. All other menus, such as sound, can be found at the bottom left of the screen.
Win Potential
Whilst the gameplay holds up to modern standards, the win potential statistics definitely do not. It starts off mediocre with a terrible RTP of 93.79% which is way under the average standard. It's expected for a lower RTP for a branded slot but this is way under the average level of 96%.
The volatility for this slot is medium giving players the best of both worlds. However, the biggest win that players can receive is 1,000x the stake. This is a low amount compared to modern standards and is especially awful considering the low RTP.
Our Verdict
The Lioness certainly does Amanda Nunes proud on the one hand as it's a high-quality slot at moments. The stand-out highlights throughout this slot are easily the features and visually appealing design.
Sadly, the win potential is ridiculous even for a branded slot. However, that is the only issue with this slot. If you are a fan of Amanda Nunes, then definitely give this slot a spin but just be aware of the mediocre win potential.
