RIP City Review
Cats and mice are known as natural enemies. Throughout history and media, these two have often been shown at odds with each other. Tom and Jerry, Speedy and Sylvester, Herman and Katnip, Itchy and Scratchy and Klondike Kat and Savoir-Faire are easily the most famous duos.
That was until Hacksaw Gaming's RIP City with Ross and Max. These two are not as 'kid friendly' as the others as these are both street thugs known for violence, drinking and drugs. You do not want to get on the wrong side of these characters. However, there is nothing wrong with getting on their good side - in fact, we encourage it.
Like most other Hacksaw Gaming slots, this one contains a whole multitude of features from free spins to expanding wilds. All of which lead towards a massive maximum win of up to 12,500x the stake.
Design
With a black-and-white aesthetic splashed with some colour, RIP City is reminiscent of previous Hacksaw Gaming titles such as Itero, Chaos Crew and Outlaws Inc. The background of the slot contains an artistic alleyway designed in grey colours with neon graffiti over it.
Similarly, the symbols on the reels are either grey or extremely bright. This makes the higher-paying symbols stand out more with neon yellows and greens.
Our two main characters throughout this slot are Ross and Maxx who are a cat-and-mouse duo and also frenemies. Ross looks like Sylvester from Looney Tunes but like he has been through hell. He has a massive scratch on his eyes, scraggy fur and an evil look on his face. Of course, it doesn't help that he stands in a vile demeanour and truly acts like a street cat.
Maxx is no better as he literally has a cigarette and a can of beer in his hand. He looks just as angry as Ross and bears resemblance to Tom from Tom & Jerry. Either way, these are not two animals that you'd jump at adopting.
The music is easily the coolest part about this slot and could be the best yet from Hacksaw Gaming. There is a funky bassline followed by a piano and other distorted sounds to create something you'd expect to hear in a dive bar. This is absolutely incredible from Hacksaw Gaming!
Gameplay
Whilst the design is utterly spectacular, the gameplay is quite muted for them. During the base game, there are wilds that turn into expanding wilds as well as two possible bonus rounds to trigger.
Both bonus games are extremely similar but one contains guaranteed wilds, whilst the other improves the chances. The Maxx bonus round is definitely the best bonus round to trigger and the one that can lead to the most fun.
Win Potential
From a high RTP to a delightful maximum win, RIP City has everything you could possibly want. The RTP is at 96.22% which is above the average standard and a level that we generally recommend to players.
As for the maximum win, this medium volatility slot offers a win of up to 12,500x the stake. This can be achieved during the bonus rounds or through the base game - which is good to know!
Our Verdict
This is easily the best-looking Hacksaw Gaming slot in a long time - but what about the gameplay? Thankfully, the gameplay matches up to deliver two bonus rounds, expanding wilds and multipliers!
The win potential is just as excellent with a maximum win of 12,500x the stake. If you have been feeling bored with Hacksaw Gaming, then RIP City is the slot for you. The design is refreshing, whilst the gameplay delivers solid fun leading to some massive wins.
