Rainbow Jackpots Megaways from developers Red Tiger is a very dense game. It’s got a Beer Bonus, Fairy Bonus and a Free Spins round. There are also Hourly, Daily and Progressive jackpots to be won!
The game area can be up to 6x7 in dimension, with a maximum of 117,649 win ways. To win, players need to land matching symbols on consecutive reels, starting from the leftmost reel. The low pays are the 10 to ace symbols. Land a 6-of-a-kind and you’ll win up to 0.4x the stake. In ascending order of value, the Leprechaun’s hat, horseshoe and gilded 4-leaf clover are the high pays. Their 6-of-a-kinds are worth 0.6x, 1x and 2.5x, respectively. The wild substitutes for all pay symbols.
The Chain Reaction mechanic means that every time you hit a winning combo, its symbols disappear, which leaves space for more symbols to fall, so you can potentially hit more wins. Also, if the Leprechaun appears and blows his Lucky Pipe, the following features may be triggered: Random Tiles, Free Spins, Beer Bonus and Fairy Bonus. The Leprechaun can also reveal Mega equivalents of all these features.
Random Tiles is when the Lucky Leprechaun reveals a wild or a high-paying symbol. 3 or more of the same symbol will then fall as ‘tiles’, which occupy at least 2 vertical positions on the grid. Alternatively, if you trigger Mega Random Tiles, those that fall will cover entire reels, and they carry multipliers of between 2x and 7x.
Landing 3 or 4 Beer Bonus scatters will trigger Beer Bonus and Mega Beer Bonus, respectively. 4 beer taps appear on the middle 4 reels. You can choose 1 and see what prize you’ll be awarded. In the Mega alternative, all 4 prizes are awarded. The standard prizes are between 10x and 60x the stake. In the Mega, they are between 50x and 1,000x!
3 Fairy Bonus scatters trigger the Fairy Bonus. The game has 6 levels, so the more scatters you land, the higher the level you’ll start at. On each level, you have to choose from 6 crystals, each containing an instant cash prize. If you choose a prize that also has an arrow, you win the prize and advance to the next level, where you’ll be able to choose again. The prizes on level 1 are worth between 5x and 20x, on level 2 they’re between 10x and 50x, on level 3 it’s 30x-150x, level 4 offers 50x-25x, level 5 pays 100x-1,000x, and on level 6 you can win between 500x and 5,000x.
If you land 3 Free Spins scatters, you’ll win 10 free spins. Land 4 and you’ll trigger Mega Free Spins. Standard Free Spins starts off with a win multiplier of 1x, which increases by +1 after each winning combination. In Mega Free Spins, the multiplier starts at 5x. Any subsequent Free Spin scatters award an extra free spin.
3 or more jackpot symbols will grant you 1 of the game’s timed or progressive jackpots. The higher your stake, the higher the probability of winning a jackpot. The Hourly jackpot’s starting value is £100, the Daily’s is £1,000 and the Daily Booster’s is £500. While I was playing, the Daily Booster was sitting at around 4k and the Daily Jackpot at around £7.5k!
The value of standard winning combinations is a little disappointing, but you’ve got to bear in mind that you’re playing on a huge game area with a lot of potential win ways - 117,649. Also, the Chain Reaction mechanic is there to aid you in turning a standard win into something much better.
The 3 different bonus rounds are all great. Once you’re there, you’re all but guaranteed a decent return. The only issue is that this is a really volatile slot, so you might be spinning for a while before you’re lucky enough to trigger 1 of them. That said, I’ve played a lot of Megaways slots where you need to land loads of scatters to trigger it. In this game, you only need 3. Similarly, you only need to land 3 jackpot symbols to trigger 1 of the 3 jackpots!
Landing 3 or 4 Beer Bonus scatters will trigger Beer Bonus and Mega Beer Bonus, respectively. Choose from 1 of 4 beer taps and win between 10x and 60x the stake. In the Mega, all 4 prizes, worth between 50x and 1,000x, are awarded!
The more Fairy Bonus scatters you land (minimum 3), the higher the level you’ll start at. Choose from 6 crystals and win prizes worth between 5x and 5,000x. If the prize also has an arrow, you ascend to the next level - 6 in total. Higher levels grant access to the more valuable prizes.
3 or 4 Free Spins scatters trigger Free Spins and Mega Free Spins, respectively. Your 10 free spins start with a multiplier of 1x, which increases by +1 with each winning combination. In Mega Free Spins, that multiplier starts at 5x.
3 or more jackpot symbols will grant 1 of the timed or progressive jackpots. The Hourly jackpot’s starting value is £100, the Daily’s is £1,000 and the Daily Booster’s is £500.
This is a highly volatile slot, and at 95.77%, the RTP is a little low. And even though there are up to 117,649 win ways, standard winning combos are worth relatively little. Thankfully, the Chain Reaction function somewhat makes up for that. Also, the Leprechaun seems to like to blow on his pipe frequently, so you’ll probably be able to derive some wins from the Random Tiles function, too.
All 3 of the bonus rounds have some amazing cash prizes on offer, and you only have to land 3 of their respective scatters to trigger them. There are also the timed and progressive jackpots that can trigger at any time, though you can increase your odds by upping your wager. The max win is 20,000x and there are many different ways to hit wins of 1,000x and above.
The setting is an idyllic meadow on a sunny day, with a little cottage to the right of the game area. There’s also some nice Irish folk playing in the background. The layout makes the game easy to follow - there’s a win ways counter, and above that, there’s a changing sign that explains different aspects of the game’s features as you play. The animations seemed a little clunkier on mobile, but other than that, the game looked and sounded fine.
Despite the low value of some winning combinations, Rainbow Jackpots Megaways’s engaging features and bonus rounds more than make up for it with big win opportunities. You shouldn’t find anything too complicated here and I’m sure you’ll be spinning away happily for a while!
