Originally announced in 2021, Games Global established a deal with Microgaming to purchase its Quickfire business giving the studio access to its back catalogue of gaming content and extensive customer network.

By 2022, this was finally completed leading to the creation of the first-ever original Games Global slot with Dr Watts Up. This quirky slot follows a scientist trying to uncover the mysteries of the world. In order to do this, he has help from his pet monkey and his faithful assistant.

It's worth mentioning that this slot is not to be confused with the 2014 version of Dr Watts Up from Microgaming. The 2022 version contains different gameplay and acts more as a reboot of the series.

Design

Dr Watts Up is a cliche in terms of the design but one that fits well. When the slot opens up, you'll find the mad scientist on the left side animated throughout. He is definitely wacky and lives up to his title.

Surrounding the screen, you'll find black and white flooring mixed with loads of different machines in the distance. There is certainly a steampunk element to this slot with glasses and machinery designed in this specific style.

The music in this slot is easily the best part. It's an eerie track paired with organs, synthesisers and other strange instruments paired together to create something science fiction.

On the surface, the game seems quite complicated with multiple features that can be triggered. However, these are straightforward features with each being triggered when a wild lands underneath.

Our Verdict

As the first official slot from Games Global, Dr Watts Up had a lot to live up to. On the one hand, the slot manages to deliver solid gameplay with the container mechanics. The high RTP is definitely a great start.

However, the maximum win of 5,000x the stake feels a little lacklustre. For a debut slot, Games Global could have gone further. Despite this, we still found ourselves enjoying our experience and would happily go back to Dr Watts Up.
