Dr Fortuno Review
Dr Fortuno is an ominous horror-themed slot that's designed to make you feel like you're sat in the audience of Fortuno's travelling circus. Amongst the cast is a troop of creepy circus freaks. That said, it's not all frightening! There are plenty of flashing lights, music and excitement amongst the oddities.
This 5-reel, 20 payline slot has a wheel-of-fortune style mini-game with 6 different modifiers, a free spins round with 5 different modifiers and a progressive jackpot that can be won with any spin of the Wheel of Fortuno.
Design
Dr Fortuno looks absolutely AMAZING, it's one of a very small number of titles that we here at Slot Gods consider to be a 10/10 for design. Developers Yggdrasil have designed this game to look like Dr Fortuno's travelling circus, and we just love how quirky and unique it is!
The reels are set on a stage behind two grand sweeping red curtains... Each time a win is registered then stage lights dramatically work their way across the symbols before stopping on the winning combination. What's more, whenever a bonus feature is triggered the curtains close briefly, before dramatically swinging open to reveal the bonus feature screen.
High paying game symbols are all different members of Dr Fortuno's circus, all of these symbols are stacked 3 symbols high and can be wild. These are the Night Twins, a two-headed woman, Fire Head a fire-breathing clown and Water Witch, a very menacing looking green mermaid. Low paying symbols are various vials of unknown substances.
The game features a somewhat creepy carnival tune that's made up of a whole a variety of instruments, as well a woman singing in an operatic style, Dr Fortuno genuinely sounds fantastic and really adds to the overall mood of the game. Make sure you listen out for the music during the bonus rounds (in particular the free spins feature) as it's incredibly catchy!
Gameplay
It's not difficult to find your way around this game at all, as it's very similar to most Yggdrasil games. All of the buttons are laid out neatly across the bottom of the screen. Players can change their bet value using the - and + buttons on the left-hand side, whilst everything else is the centre of the screen.
The 'Max Bet' and autospin buttons are shiny ocean blue whilst the spin button is white with a dramatic red swirl painted on it, which looks brilliant and really stands out in contrast to the rest of the game dashboard.
Win Potential
For such a wonderful game, we were absolutely gutted when we fully investigated Dr Fortuno's win potential. Unfortunately, despite having a fair RTP of 96.02%, this slot is not very generous at all, players can only win a maximum of 800x their initial stake, which doesn't really cut it for us.
It should be noted that this doesn't include the Dr Fortuno progressive jackpot, however, if the casino you're playing at does choose to enable this then the game's RTP will automatically decrease to 93.02%.
Our Verdict
Dr Fortuno almost delivers on all fronts, Yggdrasil have absolutely blown us away with the design, sounds and features this game boasts, but it just falls flat when it comes to win potential. It's truly a shame because this game could have been one of the very best in our opinion.
If you're playing a game with a small budget and just want to have fun then we'd highly recommend giving this slot a spin, it's worth it! But if you're after big money wins then perhaps avoid this in favour of something with a higher win potential.
