Direct Hit Review
When you think of Cluster Pays, you immediately think of Aloha! Cluster Pays or Jammin' Jars which contain fun and cutesy gameplay about simple things.
SG Digital decided to do something different and add an adventure theme with a funky-looking soldier next to the reels. This game plays on a 7x7 grid with free spins and the Money Zone feature which cannot be found elsewhere.
Design
The overall design is definitely reminiscent of popular videogames such as Fortnite or Apex Legends with the burly character surrounded by cutesy weapons and unconventional outfits.
There's a bright background with various fun-looking weapons on the reels with a bunny bazooka and a tree grenade showing a lighter side to the slot.
For something this funky, there has to be amazing music. Thankfully, the music is incredible with a techno track playing in the distance with different beats and builds up the atmosphere of the slot even more. This is the music you would expect to find in video games and that's clearly what they are going for.
Gameplay
As mentioned, this slot plays on a grid of 7x7 and uses Cluster Pays to match up wins instead of lining them up on a traditional payline. In terms of features, there are two spins available in the game that can be triggered in the Money Zone.
To the right of the screen, you'll find the spin button and bet level. Additional settings can be found at the top right of the screen in case you want to adjust the sound or check out the paytable.
Win Potential
Sadly, the RTP for this slot is ridiculously low at 93.9% which is something that you'd expect on a slot with a jackpot but this one does not have one. In addition to this, there's no indication of high or low volatility but our gameplay experience felt more like high volatility.
The maximum win for this slot is 2,331.75x your stake which is decent for a low volatility slot but quite mediocre for a high volatility slot. Unfortunately, the win potential let down the slot in so many ways for us.
Our Verdict
There's no denying that Direct Hit is such a cool concept and an original idea that you barely see within the world of online slots. The core gameplay provides thrills and the design is simply wonderful.
However, the biggest problems we encountered were with the win potential which was definitely below average. Despite this, Direct Hit is recommended to play for a spin just to see the gameplay in action but be aware of the win potential beforehand.
