Book of Mega Moolah Review
If there are 2 things that the world of slots isn’t short of, that’s Mega Moolah & ‘Book of’ games! So what better way to celebrate this burgeoning corner of the slots market than to squeeze the 2 together? It worked out well for All41 Studios when they did the same with the WowPot Jackpot series in Book of Atem WowPot, so I imagine this will prove to be just as successful.
Design
As I said before, progressive jackpot games can end up losing their way and neglecting other important aspects of the slot. While the features have been taken care of, not much else has received a whole lot of attention in Book of Mega Moolah. The design is one area that is slightly lacking, unfortunately.
The graphics and sound effects have been torn straight from the original back in 2006—with a slight adjustment to the backing track. While it is nice to pay homage to the game that kicked off this progressive jackpot madness, it does feel a little lazy to not have given it any kind of facelift.
Gameplay
The original Mega Moolah slot was never exactly an innovation in terms of gameplay! It's a very basic setup with nothing too intricate going on behind the scenes. This time around, nothing has changed and the 10 standard pay lines combined with a run-of-the-mill Free Spins Bonus isn't going to set the world alight.
Win Potential
Book of Mega Moolah is all about the win potential, so expect to see your eyes light up at this stage. During the Free Spins Bonus, the game advertises a maximum 5,000x win and of course, the Mega Moolah jackpot can run into millions of pounds. The RTP suffers as a result and comes in at a humble 86.71%. Expect nothing less than super-high volatility.
My Verdict
The industry wasn’t expecting a life-changing experience when news of this game broke and on a personal level, I was kind of hoping that Games Global wouldn’t go down this route. However, it seems almost inevitable that a ‘Book of’ slot will find its way into every jackpot series eventually, so it's just something I'll have to deal with! Looking at the positives, it's a very simple game that won't cause any confusion and the huge progressive jackpot prizes need no introduction. It's another one for players who are solely focused on the potential payouts rather than anything else.
Paul spent plenty of time in arcades up and down the UK discovering all of the best fruit machines and watching them grow into the incredible online slots we see today. He still loves the basic format but also has a soft spot for games with big bonus rounds that progress as you play. Immortal Romance is one of his favourite slots of all time.
