I wouldn't say that this is a unique game but it certainly looks a little different from many others. Look forward to a standard payline structure, but with a bit of a multiplier twist.
The features in this game are pretty simple so beginners should be able to get started without too many problems. It all revolves around wild symbols and multipliers that build up, but we'll take a look at that in a moment.
The regular payline setup is a little different to usual and with the ghost symbols, you can grab wins for three or four matching symbols. With the Royal symbols, you're going to need at least four. 9s & 10s pay just 0.2x for a group of four, Jacks & Queens pay 0.3x and Aces & Kings pay 0.4x.
The green ghosts will pay 0.8x for a group of four – the blue ones get 0.9x, the red ones get 1x and the pink ones pay 2x.
Wins occur by landing the first symbol on the left-hand reel and subsequent matching ones on adjacent reels. Every time a win is recorded, it gets replaced by a scatter symbol, ghost or a wild.
Wilds substitute for the other regular symbols but they only appear on the last three reels. Wilds might have a multiplier of up to 4x during the base game and wins get multiplied by this displayed amount.
To see bigger wins and a persistent multiplier, you're going to need to make it through to the free spins bonus and to do this, you'll need three or more scatter symbols. It doesn't matter how many scatter symbols you get, you start with 12 free spins and each of the 16 positions now has a multiplier. This multiplier stays in place throughout the game and there's a very good chance that it will grow throughout the spins.
Each time to win occurs with a ghost or a wild, winning positions have their multipliers increased. So as that multiplier begins to grow, so do your wins. The multipliers only apply to wins that contain ghosts and wild symbols.
To grab extra spins you'll need three more scatters and for this, you'll get three more free spins. Plus, you'll get to increase the multiplier on one of the positions.
I saw a pretty decent return from my time in the bonus game with over 130x as my final prize. It takes a bit of getting used to how the multipliers only apply to ghosts etc., but you'll get there eventually.

Why does it cost so much more? That's all down to the increasing multipliers that build up throughout your spins. An extra 12 spins should see those multiplier figures build up quite considerably and so the returns could be pretty handsome.

I couldn't see a hell of a lot of win potential throughout the base game as it's quite difficult to hit winning groups – you need at least four royal symbols and this is quite a tall order, although the wild symbols will help out. To get the biggest returns, you will need to spend quite a bit of time in the bonus game and I can understand why they put such a hefty price on the direct purchase for 24 spins. That's only going to help players outside the UK though and for the rest of us, we'll have to wait for the scatter symbols to fall. The max win is advertised as 47,050x but that is going to take a gargantuan bonus effort and hundreds of spins to produce such a figure. The RTP is pretty decent at 96.54% and the volatility is high.
It feels like I've seen this game before but I can't quite put my finger on it. The familiar setup brings a ghoulish graveyard with what appears to be a house in the background rather than a church and the reels are set into a tombstone. A few lanterns are scattered about and the scar factor is kind of lost with the cute characters that pick up your ghostly wins. It shouldn't cause any sleepless nights. The music is fairly typical for BTG and you don't get anything until you hit the spin button – pretty annoying in my opinion. The sound effects are stereotypical for this developer as well as they persist with old-school fruit machine noises to accompany any wins.
We know that BTG has some decent games in its arsenal and they're capable of bringing to market some productions that push the boundaries. Boo isn't one of them and I'm not sure we're going to see it shortlisted for any awards this year. It's a bit of a clunky setup and quite difficult to hit decent wins, so the advertised stats just seem a little out of reach, in my opinion. That said, it’s all down to luck, so you never know…
